Works with most leather holsters, but if it has a strap or thumb snap, it will have to be adjusted. I shortened a strap on an old Bianchi leather holster recently (Threepersons style) & it works perfect for a Commander. Old S&W holsters usually sell much cheaper than any 1911 holster.
Another set of new custom grips from the same maker (Kimber 1911 has been on here before) – mammoth ivory Lone Star set in ebony. Just got the holster as well - an early 1960s George Lawrence actually made for an S&W 9mm (many S&W 39 & 59 leather holsters will fit a Commander 1911 perfectly).
Mine is .44 HE 2d Model as well, but I wasn't going to say anything! I couldn't afford a triple-lock. It's a beautiful gun & I think you did fine price-wise, based on my recent looking around.
That is a great find! Mine is nickel with barrel cut down to 4" (long ago & well-done) - but I still hope to find an "untouched" one like yours one day.
Not a new gun - although new grips can you feel like you got a new gun. New custom-made bone steer head in ebony 1911 grips for my Colt Super 38 (the gun's been on here before).
I have mostly OR-like thin ribbons (Camp Drafts, Texas Hatters, Resistols, etc.) but I am now down to only two actual Stetson Open Roads - this one and a modern OR in black. Only two SB thin ribbons in whole herd.
Have not worn this one in a while – vintage [early 1960s?] Stetson Open Road 3X in chocolate brown. Crown is just under 5” as creased and the brim is about 2-3/4”.
Coming to the party late today – great hats all around! I apologize if I have recently posted this one – my late 1950s/early 1960s Byer-Rolnick-era Resistol western in light grey 7X beaver – one of the nicest hats I own and I am trying to give it more head time these days. Crown is about...
It is, but probably not for long (forgot it was on there). Somewhere I have an older one that is of decent quality; but these are cheaply made and look it.
Though Straw Hat Day is not yet upon us, with a heat advisory in effect today, I thought I would take my new Stetson panama straw Open Road out for its first test drive.
I didn't, but I see @Moviehats has the answer. That's in line with the other custom hats by Texas Hatters & when you see them in-person, they look even better than in photos.
Well, I am finally caught up on the show and really enjoying it! When I was at Texas Hatters last Friday picking up my hat, just by chance, the man who owns the ranch where "The Son" was filmed came in with one of his [Texas Hatters-made] hats for a quick touch-up. The house in the show is not...
New ribbon called for a new crease – so over the weekend I changed this one from a teardrop to a diamond. Here is my BGCD, just back from getting the new copper-colored ribbon and edge binding at Texas Hatters in Lockhart, TX. A great job, as always, by Texas Hatters!
On Friday I picked up my Bluegrass Green Camp Draft from Texas Hatters who changed the ribbon and brim binding to a copper colored ribbon for me. This is one of my favorite hats, but it was not getting much head-time – but adding the contrasting ribbon should cure that. Another great job by...
