I blame you guys @Hurricane Jack , @Seraph1227 for getting me hooked on beard balm, beard oil (which I made; thanks Seraph!) and some mustache wax.... and then some Kent combs.... and... like I needed more stuff to buy, LOL!
Happy 23rd Anniversary!
Thanks, Red. Unless it gets hot, I'm pretty much into felts at this point. Loving the lower temps, but MrsFed is already cold. She says we should go to Ecuador during the fall and winter.
Seeing as I posted this in the wrong thread earlier.... here's the Knox 15 I wore out grocery shopping today.
Kind if a Whisky colored felt with a dark copper ribbon and the Knox Custom edge, aka he Cavanagh Edge.
.
I've seen it mentioned in other threads, but not sure if it's been recommended here. Boardwalk Empire is a series playing on Amazon Prime and it's got an amazing array of Homburgs shown on oodles of characters.
I had a Norm Thompson wool hat. It was never really a hat I liked a lot but I'd grab it in rainy weather. I don't recall any bad smells, but made the mistake of throwing it on a chair after it got soaked in the rain... and then a coat and other stuff got thrown on top of that. When I found it...
Great look, Karl!
Thanks Bill!
Silvermist maybe? No matter, it's a beautiful hat! I've been looking for vintage OR's and Strat's but no luck yet...
Thanks, Red!
When you meet with the OPB peeps, wear your history-bound hats.... the 42 Rosebowl, Lord's and and Slats, etc... That'll get some...
It could be a hat stiffener or some other chemical they treat the wool hats with. I suppose it could be wax from the wool, aka lanolin, which can have a bit of a sweet smell to it... but I thought they processed that out of the wool while processing it.???
