Many of the companies back then didnt put their names into the hats as they made them for other companies. Lynbrook, like other factories made hats for many stores as well as other smaller hat compamies ..what i can tell you is the the logos that are on the hat are exactly the same as the...
The Cummings machines lasted because there were no electrical part in them. We have six of them but we never use them ,,just for decoration in the store. The customer today prefers the gold initial letters or even a P Touch label.
One of the biggest problems in finding information about these older smaller companies is that there is realy no place to look. The internet can be helful on the bigger companies such as Dunlap, Knox, Portis ect.... but unless you have access to the old Hat Life magazines information is...
The major supplier Fepsa is in Portugal so the cost of the bodies wouldnt be so high. Where can you get a hat today for 85.00? I might buy one just to see it.
The hat initial machines using the gold leaf are much rarer than the older Cummings perforated machines. I have seen only one National Hatters initial machine on EBay but plenty of the older ones. None of these are made anymore.
Hi Jack, Trust me , we do care a lot about our customers. We have been in business for over 65 years. In the past month , we have received a huge amount of orders for Borsalino hats and its caught us off guard . we are trying to fill all of the orders as best as we can. You can always PM me or...
I asked my source of information and was told that Lynbrook Hat company made the Barlesoni hats in the 1940's and 1950's. When they closed , the name was transferred to Bollman hats.
The Barlesoni brand was owned by a company called Goodwear Hat manufacturing that was located in Atlanta GA during the 1970's and early 1980's. When the company was closed , the name was transferred to Bollman Hats. We sold them in our stores during that time. I have a few in stock . Probably...
What I have heard about Tonak is that the process to produce the longhair velour is a closely guarded secret. The Chinese hat factories have tried their hardest to duplicate the process but they cant figure out how the dyeing of the fur is done in Czech.
I wonder what else must be lurking in homes throughout Danbury CT and the surrounding towns. That's where most of the workers who workers for Hat Corp lived . I should start checking out estate sales there!!!
Hi Verdeo,
Borsalino hats can vary from one delivery to the next. Sending out hats to customers is never easy as its always better to try them on. If you are ever in NY , please visit our store in Williamsburg . We have many Borsalino in big sizes.
The felt has to be from Tonak then. All the other sources in Europe like Fepsa would be to expensive at this price point. It couldn't be from Spain, Italy .. China would be too far and not cost effective.
