Some children tried to steal my hat yesterday
This would get you murdered in my town and then they'd take your phone and wallet too! I say this without a hint of humor. If you did manage to make it to the police the kids would tell the police you solicited sex from them, you'd go to jail and they'd still have your hat. -

Unfortunately you're asking for a size that is going for a crazy premium right now ( I know because it's my size too). A nice vintage Borsalino and a Stetson Stratoliner in this size just sold in the $350 range. They can certainly be got for less with vigilant watching of various sources but...- tommyK

G, we have very similar backgrounds ( I've only dabbled in sculpting but work full time as an artist and still make furniture on the side) and have come to very similar hat conclusions -

If I'm wearing a hat straight on, I'm usually looking for it to be about one finger width above my ears. I usually have a tilt so it usually does touch one ear or very nearly. it shouldn't dig into your forehead. Better a touch big than too small As Moon said Comfort is the most important... -

Eric, I would like to suggest you get more than one flange. A 2 1/2, 2 5/8 and 2 3/4 to start. There are different shapes as well among the brim sizes as well. Deeper or more shallow dish, flatter fronts with deeper backs and so forth. Many brims have a flatter front than back and many flanges...
