What Hat Are You Wearing Today 1?

David - great way to start the day. Howard - the Barmah looks a practical beast, and I love the brown up-brim. You've also got me hungry, you can't beat wild mushrooms you've gathered yourself. :) Charlie - nice TAR. HeyMoe - lovely felt colour. Greg - nice piece from Mike there, Alan - I'm...

    Sterkowski hats...opinions/experiences wanted please

It doesn't look at all bad for the money - from the photos it looks as good as the many re-badged Tonaks most of the UK hatters sell (at a higher price point). I wonder whether the felt is Tonak?

    Bound vs. Raw Edge Brim?

I confess to having just cut off a beautifully stitched bound brim (sorry Mike!) on a new custom hat because I just couldn't get on with it on that hat. I've got other bound brim hats that I enjoy, but some hats seem to support brim edge treatment others don't.

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Yes I suspect it's a combinatin of shape, felt density and the amount of shellac/stiffener.

    The Bowler or Derby Hat

Wool works well for bowlers - you don't seem to get the shrinkage problems you get with fedoras. I've picked up a Christy's brown wool bowler (brown felt vanished long ago) before they discontinued them and it's got a nice slightly fuzzy texture that works well with tweeds.
