Such a utilitarian style could be anything.... most likely fashion jacket of some sort?
Closest I've seen with that single chet pcoket and two zipped handwarmers (it looks like) is the Schott 641 or 141.

From the zip pulls and the absence of a second male stud on the neck...
Jinkies, that's quite the reduction. I saw those when they were new. The Flying Tigers model looked particularly nice, though I wasn't sold on them being basically an MA1 rather than a more traditional, lighter souvenir jacket. For less than fifty bucks, though, I suspect I'd have jumped on one...
Yes, that's what struck me about it too! Though if I bought one, I'd have to lose the label on the sleeve.... Still, it does look nice. It's interesting they went with the earlier slash pockets rather than the later flapped style. I wish the website showed the liner colour; I'd love to know if...
Yeah, I like bolder colours, but they're definitely secondary to decent 'standards' - brown, grey, black. I would pair it with a matching shirt, or accents like a tie / scarf / velvet collar on a covert coat.
The brown one is great - unfortunately I don't seem to have any photos to hand, but...
Cordova caps ate lovely indeed. I have a couple made by him; in particular, I have one of the early SJC wabash caps that I believe were made by Cordova for the brand. Mine is one of the eight dart style. The eight panels, like yours, are beautifully done; if they came in black I'd jump on one of...
I have seen German bullhide mc jackets from way back that were as hefty, but it wasn't the norm for halfbelts and the likes. As Aero will doubtless tell you themselves, the "heaviest leather possible" desire is really a modern workwear trend - just like the vogue for super-heavy denim.
I have the opposite issue - I can't listen to BBC Radio 2 because it's full of the same "yoof" presenters that drove me away from BBC Radio 1 in the 90s!
A nicer shape than I'd expected (elements of those lines hearken back to echoes of Dusenbergs to my eye) - rather this look than the MG F they brought out in the 90s, though that in itself aged better than I'd expected at the time. It needs toning somehow, though.... as it sits, it looks like a...
That's a shame. I've still not had a chance to see it - I hope it comes belatedly to UK screens.
Watched this on the BBC last year when it was first broadcast in the UK; very good indeed. I have a half remembered notion it is based on a novel, which I really should read.
It it were a BBC...
Anyone got any experience of the Superdry take on an MA1?
On sale in John Lewis at what looks like a fair deep discount, if it's any good... https://www.johnlewis.com/superdry-vintage-ma1-bomber-jacket/p109723706
I think it looks great! I love a big, floppy cap, 20s style, but it can take getting used to at first. Like a fedora or anything, really. Berets took me a bit to get into the swing of - now I think they look way better on me, but that's all a confidence thing, really.
I have a couple of these...
It's a very individual thing, but I always found the reputation of FQHH as heavy to break in very over-exaggerated. I've never needed more than three weeks of daily wear.
Possible, though it could get pricey. I'd be sure first that it's the *size* is the issue, rather than it just needing a bit of breaking in to make the buttons easier to fasten? Of course, if the idea is to make it slip on/off without doing that, moving the button is the best option. There's...
Cherry is definitely brighter than Cordovan, and not often seen in the wild. As a rule of thumb, if you want a bright red jacket, I'd say look at cherry, while if you want something in a more burgundy / red wine / dark red, look at Cordovan.
It's also permissible to place a "want to buy" ad...
nice jacket. Vanson Chopper?
Are those barefoot shoes the ones with no real sole, just a very thin rubber layer to make it more like walking around, well, barefoot? They're not something as appealed to me, but I think my wife would love them.
My own experiences have been uniformly positive, though I'm sure it also helps to be relatively local in terms of if I needed to do any return shipping or every thought there was any risk of sizing being off. I did receive a wrong-sized polo I picked up last Autumn - only realised I'd been sent...
