I haven't done much with my layout as I've been working on 1:1 scale trains for each weekend (as a brakeman on a nearby tourist RR) since June. Spitoon use in the Appalachians in the 40s?
Got these today from eBay. Those ashtrays were used in the 40s, though I'm not sure if spitoons were used that late. Does anyone know? This is for my model railroad layout which takes place in the Blue Ridge Mountains in 1943. I mean, this is the area where people were still using outhouses...- p51

Gas station pumps?
Wow, thanks very much for all that info! Looks like a single red pump would be historically correct for what I'm trying to do. Thank you also for being able to identify the time frame for that photograph. I assumed it was from the early 1930s, but wasn't absolutely sure.- p51

Yesterday, I finished painting these two figures. I used white oil paint for parts of them, so that took a few days to dry. I have not painted many figures in my lifetime, and it's hardly the best figure paint job ever, but I like how they turned out. They are both 3D prints from "ScaleHumans"...- p51
