    Panama Hat Thread

Can vintage panamas be reblocked, resized larger? Meaning the brim break being changed not just stretched out with a stretcher? Seems like I remember earlier in this thread of jonbuilder and Bill Hughes have some sent out to have this done. I have a Pennys Marathon with 3” brim I was wondering...

What hat are you waiting for today?

Great Balls of Fire again Hat Wizard Hufford. Another great catch of cool ones. The one 7 1/4 straw is Hanoki straw. I know a feller in Buckeye AZ who’ll have his eye on that one if it lands on eBay.

Great investigative work there Det Hufford! I still think there may be some elves involved somehow.

What hat are you waiting for today?

I’ve had the ribbon/bow off of mine and there is no visible seam, I think it’s magic, Keebler elves or such.

Only appropriate to post this particular one today. The Finchley Establishment fedora in If I remember correctly @steur favorite shade of green. I’ve only seen one reference so far and that was one by Dinerman here on the Lounge. 2 5/8” welted brim, 5 5/8” open crown. Other than a few moth...

I agree with you very similar in build and design, I think you’re right. I really wanted to see behind the sweat but even though it was in good condition it just wasn’t very flexible. Already had a couple of loose-popped stitches didn’t want to chance it. Seems like when there’s already a few...

Another January hat, Byer Rolnick. No fear whatsoever peeking behind this unreeded sweat, kinda hard not to. Fair amount of mothing and a little dirty but the price was right and my size. I’m a Resistol, Byer Rolnick fan for sure. Soft thin easily shaped felt. 2 3/4” triple stitched brim, 5...

HARVARD CLUB Another for this thread a Harvard Club in size 7 1/2. Also an unreeded sweat that I haven’t peeked behind yet for tags and labels. Came from hatters estate in PA and was obviously in the midst of being worked on. I would guess this a 40’s era. 2 3/4” bound brim, 6” open crown. Very...

SUNNINGTON I believe this to be appropriate thread to post this lesser known hat. Beautiful bone color with 1 1/2” black ribbon/bow in size 7. Unreeded sweat that I didn’t feel safe in trying to peek behind for tags and info. 2 5/8” bound brim, 4 1/2” crown as bashed. Beautiful art deco liner...

Another from back in January and it’s also one I’ve not seen before Harvard Club size 7 1/2. This came from a hatters estate in Pennsylvania and was obviously in the midst of being worked on from the pins in the bow and sweat. Very nice soft easily dry shaped felt. Haven’t tried to peek behind...
