Looking forward to Headwind's No-Name (S.H. Knopf) 42-18236-P A-2 repro. I had one of John's (GW) way back. Had an unusual offset collar, easy fit. Was a great jacket.
Another Forum member drew my attention to AVI LTHR's Ebay shop front. Looks like they are moving their 'older' stock of V1 or V2 A-2s (arguably the more 'accurate', versions), for a SONG!!!!
Besides Platon's Dubows (on another level of authenticity), these A-2s must be THE best deal on the...
Grabbed the AVI A-2 today. This is the 2019 version (currently still on website). Very light and comfortable A-2. I had the slightly darker seal knit, replaced with seal knit from MASH.
Byson UK did the work, which was… ok.
I don’t think this version is as Bronco-esque as the V1 and V2 jackets...
Not the last, but recently watched ol' Jimmy Stewart's You Gotta Stay Happy again. What a classic! Plus, some great footage of Jimmy wearing his original WW2 Roughwear 1401 A-2 in the film.
Yes
Its easy. Bought a few jackets directly from them. Took about 10 days to 2 weeks to arrive to me in the UK, with no added import duties or anything.
If you are not too concerned about super authenticity and accurate details...
Another option is AVI LTHR - www.avileather.com/shop/
I have had a few of their Bronco A-2s over the last couple of years, the last version is one of my go-too jackets, I love it. Not 'uber' accurate when comparing...
Cheaper directly though Bronson, you get 5% off your first purchase and free worldwide postage (and easy returns). Done all the above!
Am sorry I missed their Black Friday sales in Dec last year!
That MA-1 is calling me. HJop[e they do a later version Tanker.
I had a LWs Dubow. Nice enough jacket, robust and solid. I liked the colour of the horsehide. However, this jacket is not in the same league as BK or Platon's Dubows. Leather was heavy and thick, and lacked bit of character.
Worth a look maybe, but unless you can snag one really cheap, why? When...
Weren't Morgans Japanese? Nice enough jacket, but the one in the pic, the leather looks flat and lifeless. Even my Cockpit Government issue A-2 has more character than this.
After over two dozen horsehide A-2 repops, I have found consistently the sleeves shortened by 0.5 to 1" after some wear. A number of these has std sleeve length to begin with, which is why I now order my jackets with a bit of added length. After wear these A-2s fit beautifully.
I have found this...
100% agree
After years of buying and wearing A-2s, owning from almost everyone, GW, BK,ELC, AERO, Platon's, LW and many others... plus owning one original WW2 A-2.... Have to say that Platon's Dubow above is a no-brainer.
For the price its the best deal out there for a high-end...
