    Celebrities jackets

This popped up on Facebook. Bowie in his Berlin years, off duty in a Berlin bar. Wearing what I believe to be the 'Heroes' jacket, as made by Ken Calder.

Has anybody seen ____ around Lately?

Pricey stuff, those! Though Gibson recently did a strictly limited series of PAFs faithful to the original specs. Came in a little leather case too. Yours for USD999 retail. I wonder how many of those will ever actually be used! Thst would be fun! There is an audio forum, if anyone has...

So trivial, yet it really ticks you off.

That is nice looking! I think ideally I'd prefer hydrogen powered, all else being equal, but it's not got the rollout of refuelling spots. 600 miles between fills would be great, but if there's no fill station there.... I suspect electric will triumph for no reason other than its convenience...

What was the last TV show you watched?

If you can pick it up on DVD (available pretty cheaply on Amazon - it's probably on Britbox too, come to think of it), it's well worth a view. The lovely thing is that across many years they were able to do every single story, so there's the full set with a constant set of players. It gives them...

What Was The Last Movie You Watched?

John Wick 4 the other week. Tremendous fun. Closes out the Wick story in style, with a nod to the real old school of the mythical heroes like Robin Hood. The closing shot I saw coming a mile off, but it's beautifully done. The scene that had me whoop for joy, though, was the very knowing nod to...

Ask a question, get an answer

It's a real pity. I don't much mind whether it's made in the US, China or wherever (I've seen a few on the EU site that are made in Italy, straws mainly), but yeah it's frustrating that they don't even try to carry one of the most well known models! I think I might just have to ty and work in a...

Ask a question, get an answer

I'm not at the point of buying yet, but I've been looking out for some nice straws ahead of next Summer. My favourite is the Stratoliner (not at all easy to find here in the UK - most US hatters seem either not to ship here or charge an exorbitant amount for it - USPS has upped charges...

    Hat Pins or Not??

I've got a bit of a notion for a furfelt Strat since buying my first straw one on eBay recently - it really is a nicely proportioned hat. I'll probably at some point have a wander in the London Stetson store to see them, though I'm hoping this Summer they stock the straws. My recent purchase is...

    Hat Pins or Not??

Thanks! This is fascinating! I was aware of the aeroplane connection in the name, but not that Stetson had cross-marketed it in quite such an organised way with TWA.

    Hat Pins or Not??

Makes sense - now I think about it, the brim shape is a big difference. The Campdraft I steamed the brim into a fedora style downswoop at the front, but it's not a snap brim - which the Stratoliner does have. Seems a Stratoliner might ultimately by intent be an OR for those of us who prefer a...

    Hat Pins or Not??

You did a lovely job! I love that wide brim binding - I need to get myself a hat with that on it. Could well have been the OR Akubra did, right enough - the Capdraft does come open crown. I've never handled an OR but (pin deign difference aide), it does look to be basically the same hat as...

    Hat Pins or Not??

Sounds intriguing, any more information? I remember Akubra did make some Stetsons under licence for the Australian market some years ago - as I recall, they made the Stratoliner, which, once that arrangement came to an end, became the Campdraft under their own brand.

What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

A silverbelly Stetson Stratoliner (or Akubra Campdraft) would fit very nicely with those.

What is going on with this site???

Management are looking into this again. Myself, I have the occasional slow day, though mostly not an issue. Not sure if it's at high traffic periods online or what (it's all demons and voodoo to me inside the box).

Serious about a straw Stetson Stratoliner

That looks to be the same one I have - I just picked mine up via eBay a couple of weeks ago. It started off with me looking for, well, not quite an all-out replacement, but my old Akubra Capricorn in the grey-blue colour is past its very best, and they don't seem to make them in any colour other...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Lovely job - I saw the photo first, didn't twig at all that you'd added the side cover and the Stetson logo. Looks great!

Aero USAAF Type B-7 Arctic issue.

I've never seen one in the wild, I'm afraid. Be interesting to see if there is a forumite out there with one. I have seen a fair few other Aero shearlings, though, which were all lovely.

    Hat Pins or Not??

Reminds me of the Lewis Leathers logo patch debate.... I recently bought my first straw Stratoliner, and it came with the pin. It's small and subtle, and I like it very much. Crucially, of course, that's been a part of the Stratoliner design for many decades. I wouldn't want one that had a...

What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

After what seems to have been at least a month of it being cold enough for a ushanka or otherwise too windy for a fedora, a much enjoyed run out for Big Blue on Tuesday: Bumped into Johnny Ramone on the way into the office, he seemed to like it...
