Randy, It depends on the style. You can snap the brim with this one but my feeling it was worn brim up. I have some JHS Soft Felts with taller crowns but I think the sporty JHS Snap Brims were popular. I will wear some of the taller crown JHS Soft Felts in the coming weeks.
J. Hückel´s Söhne "Durit", possibly late 1920s and made for the French Market. I found this one back in July and it's one of my better recent finds. This is the first time I got a chance to wear it.
JHS , Hat Factory, Neutitshein , September 1920. This was a post WWI change...
Rockel "Velour", possibly 1930s. High quality metal gray Real Velour with high gloss. One of my better recent finds but I had to wait for cool temperatures to give it a spin.
"Echter Rockel Hut" Rockel Alsfeld, Kraemer & Van Elsberg, G.M.B.H. Köln display placard probably late...
S. J. Fraenkel Wien "Siror", 57cm possibly late 1950s. I would like to thank Brent for letting me know about this fantastic Velour. The high quality golden brown Velour is very closely cropped and has high gloss. Great looking thin ribbon / band color and bow design. Also the close cropped...

Sorry I missed this one! Great find! Yes, most likely from Guben. There are many Wool Stiff and Soft Felt Hats with that similar paper label. I started to put together a list of them but need to to update it.
Personally I wouldn't use hairspray. You can try wetting the brim felt (make sure it's saturated) with distilled water but make sure to turnout the sweatband so it doesn't get wet. You can form the brim by hand (or with a brim flange) + brush the Velour with a firmer bristled brush and let it...
I also think it's later 1930s early 1940s. If it is indeed made of Wool and not mostly Hare fur than it's technically not Echter / Real Velour. I actually like hats like this. :) There was definitely Wool Velour because I have seen listings for it in pre WWII German Hatmaker News (which didn't...
Deutsches Fabrikat possibly 1930s. No company labels so most likely sourced by the shop Emil Fischer Dortmund. I found this Stiff Felt back in March of this year.
Came with this Case, Emil Fischer Dortmund Wiss - Str 26 - 28.
Rehfus & Cie. "Zephyr" "Extra Extra Qualität". I believe this Stiff Felt is post WWII but made from old stock. The Rehfus & Cie factory was heavily damaged in WWII and didn't go back into production until 1951. It's in NOS condition. I found this Stiff Felt back in 2019.
It...
Eric, Super! The last (Heathed) hat is a Janyška from my 2016 NOS find.
Fourth hat listed. Also Janyška info.

Max Förster Altenburg "Marke Förster", "C." possibly 1930s. I only have one other Max Förster and it's a Wool Soft Felt. I found this Wool Stiff Felt back in 2022.
Max Förster, Altenburg, S. A. Haar- und Wollfilzhut Fabrik (DHZ Oct. 1, 1919)
Factory now Parkhotel, Altenburg
