Sure, I will take it out of the closet when I get a chance. The jacket is a half-belt design in natural color. I also have a trucker type she also made. Her family has been crafting jackets for generations.
Nice D pocket Herc. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-1950s-D-pocket-Leather-Motorcycle-Jacket-Talon-Zip-Large-/115847352344?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255
Pit to pit 25 and taking offers.
I actually own a Native American deer jacket made by a master craftsperson who has been making handmade jackets for more than 30. She picks the best leather but never "ID" the deer. Deer is just a top choice for leather jackets. By the way, I lent the deer my USO sn-3 scope to go with his...
Still in the hunt for that nice size 44 one-pocket sportster. Here is a 1970s bates. The hide is very nice. Thicker than HD and very close to the 60's hides I previously referred to.
I can help you with the zipper friend. Just pm me. You know, I love that design. I have a repro of the late 20's movie jacket worn by Clooney. his had a cool brass belt buckle that was one of the focal points of the jacket. Back in the day, HD sold many car coat-style jackets in their early...
HD early 60
I used to rock this jacket in 1979 when I purchased it at a hot rod swap meet in Pomona. I then quickly got some Cals,Californias and Buco in the same year. No Bates, they were very expensive for my limited budget. They all hold a sentimental value and many family members rock...
Based on the jacket I currently own. I think is more like the early '60s. That includes my HD first production white label, Reed, first production label (have 4 different labels in the very same jacket but the hide is different) Passaic, and Cal's. All CR designs. My 70's Bates CR reminds me...
Nice leather. The design is ok. Passiac is so much better IMHO. Those leather production years yield beautiful hides for makers. Reed,Cal,Passiac, and Schot manufactured epic garments using those very similar leathers.
Your jacket is a solid survivor. Love it. Spiegel made an excellent jacket in the '80s. Back in the 80's leather jackets were in big time. Many find samples were made in Korea.
The jacket is trim on you. If that is the look you like, then rock that socker. If you want a little more body room in the chest area, try a nice fitted T-shirt. It will make the jacket more comfortable. In true honesty, the goat in your jacket will flex a little more as it gets broken in...
Practicality for me is 100% nylon. Durability, I love corduroy and for comfort and warmth is rayon-wool fabric. (if you can find it)
The samples below are from 70% rayon and 30% wool. Fabrics from the 50s are at the top of my list. I was lucky enough to get a good roll of the Korean War...
Practical jacket. For me, this baggy jacket works when riding my dual sport-type moto. Hein Gericke used to make excellent jackets in the '70s. During the '80s, they made excellent value jackets. I still have some of their HD line jackets. The HD line, sizing runs about 1/2 size smaller.
