RM Japan, or RMJ is a completely separate company, as a matter of fact, they keep on expanding in recent years.
That is some impressive insight into the recent fall of the Japanese industrial empire! I think there is also another reason on top of what you mentioned. One of the fatal import...
I am 5'11", 163lb, weighted in the gym not long ago. Most of my jackets and flight jackets are a comfortable 40, I also have a 38 BK A-2 which gives me a good slim "Japanese fit", except that I cannot wear anything other than a polo shirt underneath.
I remember I thought that when Hollister opened up their shop in Regent St. London, I thought it is some kind of high class beauty/massage/spa saloon.....
Superdry, on the other hand, was only made famous because of Prince Harry. My Japanese colleagues always laugh at people whenever they see...
FYI, here are some interesting information of some 'fashion' companies.

J.Crew could almost be the name of the preppiest dude on the rowing team — but, alas, it's completely made up. The brand began in 1947 as Popular Merchandise, Inc...

We have to hope that nobody open up the flood gate of our repro jackets there. The Japanese are already paying silly amount of money for a lot of stuffs already. I recently bought an Inverallan wool cardigan from a UK vendor and found out that the Japanese are paying two times the price over...
Absolutely agree on this. If they are going to spend a grand on some jackets, they will probably go for Burberry, Belstaff, Prada or Gucci. I think until Eastman start stamping huge ELC logos on the chest of all their jackets, very few mainland Chinese would rush to buy their jackets.
I have a Johnstons of Scotland 100% cashmere scarf for years, it is still one of the best scarf that I have ever owned. And it won't cost you an arm as well.
I can understand the your pain. The contact on his webpage is basically useless (since day 1). Like many had said, the best way to contact Dan is via the Filmjacket forum. Or, alternatively, the guy's Facebook page.
My experience with him was actually pretty good while I got my House Jacket...
