Well Eric, the city is here waiting for you. Whenever you want, let me know and we will go together through the ancient streets of this city called Verona
Tonight no hat but a thick wool cap. I have a very strong cold and the temperature is very close to zero, having to go out to go to the pharmacy I thought I'd show you Daniele aged with a psychedelic background in his birthplace
This is a small square between small gardens, I was born two...
Stefan and Panos are good guys before Christmas  because they were favored in size by a very distracted Santa Klaus. That said, I'm curious to see what comes out of the pile of new arrivals :)
Snow is expected for Wednesday, today cold and sun, tomorrow an interlocutory day, so before the wool cap I wear a Borsalino, inspired by Reggie's Optimo melousine I dusted off this Borsalino, very similar in terms of felt finish.
Borsalino Grand Prix size 6 or 59 cm., color of the felt "Miele...
Cold this morning with sun, now early afternoon, gray, wind, cold and bad weather coming.
We are in winter and so I took a hat suitable for the season from the wardrobe.
It was a Tyrolean made in Italy, probably from Barbisio or Cervo.
The honey-colored velour felt is gorgeous and then...
Thanks Steve. This Borsalino is one of the oddities of the Alessandria house. I immediately thought of something unusual, suitable for some special occasion as the hat is a crossover of various styles.
It is particular like many others of Borsalino's "oddities" production.
Why it remained unsold...
Grazie Steve.
I believe the felt is a production made outside Italy in those years, even if I struggle to date it, as the hatter has left no trace and has components that are similar to some hats found in Mantua.
It has an above average quality and however, as you point out, it is a rarity...
Thanks Joe.
Tirard was the first of the French producers to disappear in the 1956.
It has above average quality even in its descending phase. Tirards are now rare to find
Your collection in grown with excellent hats more and more. Bravo!
Windy day in Verona after a cold night
A hat from the 1950s made in France. Tirard in "Tweed" as described on the paper label.
The felt is of medium consistency in a heather brown with orange hues in the amre of brown-red.
Very special ribbon that is in contrast with the color of the felt...
Well, in Northern Italy, we are in winter. Tonight the temperature dropped below 0 degrees C. on a clear night.
The sun and the cold greeted us this morning as I took these photos.
Borsalino Qualità Extra Superiore, the color of the felt is "Corteccia - Cortex", no indication on the color or...
Often on the Italian market of antique or vintage hats Borsalinos appear that have some quirks in their shape, color or construction. Most are "children of fashion" or of certain needs of some large retailer.
I give up 99% of the cases because they often have no appeal. When I saw this I awoke...

When it appeared on the market, I checked my conscience, asking myself: how many black velour hats did you have in your hands without them being your size?
I was, however, attracted to a black velour hat made by a Milanese hatter I had never heard of.
Usually these are hats that were produced...

Borsalino produced millions of hats in all possible and imaginable shapes, this in the golden age of hats.
Every so often I find oddities on the Italian market and this is one.
I have never had a great passion for bowler hats and I have had very beautiful ones that have found a new owner...
