    Show us your SHOES !!!

Over 55 years ago, when I was just a dishwasher in training, these set me back more than a day's wages. I was so poor back then, I rode my bike with a golf jacket.

    Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot review

Here we are, after a few months of washing dishes at Panda Express. I've gotten my money's worth.

Another pair at a big discount. Never pay full price for these boots. Only buy them on sale, and with a discount code.

    Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot review

I think all 1000 Mile Boots are Goodyear welted. Some have a 270 degree welt. Some have a 360 degree welt.

Opinions vary. We all have different feet. To me, a wide toe box is better than shoes that squish my toes together. I don't want my feet and toes wrapped up tight and bound. That leads to orthopedic problems. The Iron Sheik had the right idea. If I could, I would wear his boots.

This is what the cap toe boots look like, in their natural habitat. The dishwashing station at Panda Express.

    Jim Green custom shop

I took a trip to West Africa. The local Panda Express needed a highly trained dishwasher. I didn't get any special footwear. I just wore my regular issued duty boots - which would have been something from Bates, Rocky, Thorogood, Danner, or whichever company won the bid on the supply...

I'm Courteney has a nice article on Forbes. And that little video provides a little insight on their factory, manufacturing, and company background. I like that they are providing employment to poor people. I won't be buying Courteney. I have no specific need for a safari shoe. The...

I thought that those shoes were purpose specific. Specific to safari. Shoes for hikes through the jungle or forest. It's an outdoors shoe.

    Experimenting on foods.

Doesn't everyone use cutlery from a company known to make swords that you hang on the wall? Amazing how much work you can do with a 3" knife. And no, you don't have to spend $$$ on something endorsed by a celebrity chef.

Jim Green has competition. But not really. Nobody knows this company. They are much smaller.

Allen Edmonds (really... are they good shoes?)

I've worn these all weekend. No sore spots on my feet. No blisters. Very comfortable, right out of the box.. No break-in period. Those things matter to me.

Allen Edmonds (really... are they good shoes?)

I don't know if it matters or not. Some cap toe shoes have a real cap toe. They actually sew an extra piece of leather, over the toe of the shoe. Allen Edmonds does not have a real cap toe. The "toe cap" is sewn to the shoe, not as an extra cap over the shoe.

    Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot review

Here is the cap toe I just bought. The biggest differences are the 360 Goodyear welt, and Vibram soles. Other than that, the cap toe is just an aesthetic difference. I don't know if it's a "real" cap toe, or just a cosmetic cap toe where two pieces of leather are sewn together to create the...

Fashion brands leather jackets: Is it worth the price tag?

An old, carbureted 883. Just enough for city commuting.

    Wolverine 1000 Mile Boot review

General impressions are that it is a well built shoe, using decent components. On my foot, the shoe fits to my Brannock size. With Allen Edmonds, I buy my Brannock size, but fit varies depending on the model and last. If the shoe was built on Allen Edmonds 65 last, it is a bit narrow, and...
