Hey All!
Been a minute since I was on here, but saw The Shop in Vancouver had big discount on one color of their Y'2 (HVR-42 HV) single rider...and only one size left...which happened to be my size.
So I went in and tried it on. And it followed me home.
Very nice jacket - I'm pleased...
Thank you (and many thanks for sharing tips via PM)!
It would have been a slimmer fit, but I lost about 15 pounds in weight from the time the pattern was made to when the jacket arrived. Briefly thought about contacting Greg about that, but I still had the toile and when I tried it on again...
Hi!
I do not know the answer there. But I can tell you that when I received the toile mock-up, the top hem of the shoulders were extending too far beyond my actual shoulders. So when I asked for adjustments, one of those was to narrow the top shoulder hem by 1 inch on each side, which Greg did.
Thank you! Good heft indeed. This is not the thinner/pliable stuff. I agree that this pattern really highlights Greg's stitching skills.
If you see this jacket strolling around Vancouver, it is me! If you see a nearly identical one in Europe, that would likely be @Tom71
Greg has finished my jacket...and made it "Insta-famous" (lol) by posting pics of it on the Field Leathers Instagram.
I am so thrilled with how it looks - now counting down the days until I get my hands on it!!!
After waiting the requisite time, I am pleased to say that Greg is currently working on my bespoke Michigan in blue shinki HH (inspired by/copied from @Tom71 ).
So far the process has been a pleasure, and the extra 100 pounds to get the toile sent to me was well worth it - couple tweaks...
Nice herringbone! I've been eyeing vintage Harris Tweed blazers myself, but the ones I'm seeing for sale in my size from vintage sellers are more like $70-$120. Still not bad, but can't compete with $4.69!!!!!!
I'll politely disagree.
I have about 15 pairs of selvedge jeans that range from $40 (Uniqlo) all the way past $400 (Stevenson Overall, Iron Heart, etc.)
My best fitting, most worn, and very well-constructed pairs are Unbranded (made in China/Macau from Japanese selvedge) and Uniqlo (made in...
Huh - I suspect you bought the wrong make/model/fit in the Unbranded lineup.
I often find many brands and fits of jeans to be tight in the crotch...so I solved the problem by buying 2 models of Unbranded selvedge and they fit me great.
In a very general sense, if you have this fit problem you...
Hi Folks,
The Brooks landed today and I am thrilled!
The jacket looks practically unworn for an item near 50 years old. In fantastic condition!
That bottom hem is soooooo close to even...close enough for me to be very happy.
BTW the jacket is labelled as a 46 and it is TTS, but considering...
Just as an illustration of what I'm talking about, here is a link to a later Brooks sold by Thurston Bros that has this issue...but I have seen many where the uneven hem is even more prominent:

Yes - I agree the two above are nicely even and look great! Hope mine is like these...I have seen quite a few where it looks like the hem is uneven by close to an inch! :(
Just reviving this older thread about Brooks. Have one on its way to me (ebay buy), and excited for it to arrive.
But one thing I noticed when looking at a lot of pics of gold label Brooks CRs...many of them seem to have uneven bottom hems - what I mean by this is that when the jacket is...
