With all due respect, you didn’t know what a police jacket was 24 hours ago (though I recommended you check out Appalachian which made them) whereas the people you’re talking to all have owned them. And I don’t own a Highwayman, though they’re nice jackets.
I’m glad it fits your needs but again...
It might well be the case that these kinds of jackets (due to being full length) might require a split back of some kind because a one piece would just be impossible at that size of panel. Still, you could ask I suppose.
They don't have the same silhouette. I own (and am even selling) one of those police jackets, but you described wanting a jacket sized/shaped like an M-65 which would be much longer and wider.
Did you look at the Vanson linked above?
Where do you think you're posting?
If you say G-1 back here, we take that to mean "action back with half belt and underarm gussets", if you say A-2 back here, we take that to mean unstructured one piece back, if you say M-65 pocket, we picture an M-65 pocket. We assumed your specificity was...
Okay, perhaps that's true for you but we all took your specifications list more seriously than you did in that case. You can't blame us for envisioning exactly what you described.
I'm sorry but the jacket you described (whether good or bad) would have been a frankenjacket; that's not inherently a bad thing, indeed many including Mr Proper have commissioned hybridised/franken designs in the past.
But the police jacket layout does not include M-65 pockets or the other...
Well in fairness this isn't just like the jacket you described.
If this would fulfill what you're looking for, you have a lot of options as this general design is used by many Northeastern American police departments. I even have a brand new one that I'm selling for cheap since I got the wrong...
As a few of us keep pointing out, the standard/unnamed house leathers at good makers are going to be as good as if not better than most tanneries we know as a brand or something. They won't put something subpart in that besmirches their reputation.
Depends on whether they need to make a bespoke pattern for you or not. If you're essentially a stock size and they just need to do your pocket configuration on a standard jacket type like @Canuck Panda mentions, you're looking at Aero prices.
Surely that concern would apply even more to Pakistan? Shipping between the UK and US is not a massive issue I would think from my time living in each.
Different utilitarian elements, when assembled together, can look simply bizarre. A labcoat with the length of a Perfect would be absurd for example.
Not sure I understand your point about the back. Your reference was a 5 Star copy of the Schott 519, which is a motorcycle jacket.
In any case...
This jacket seems like a pretty bizarre stew of elements that won't work well together. You want chest cargo pockets with an A-2 front, no knits, and a Perfecto back?
I bought a really beautiful one from a forum member but I’ll probably be moving it on because I can’t justify having two (I had received a repro Irvin just days earlier).
I'm a fan of Samurai but I think this belt is way overpriced for what it is (basically a thick belt blank with a brass buckle). For such a thing, Sugar Cane's version is more realistically priced.
A side note of advice: That Samurai site is probably the worst place to buy their stuff...
Haha the thing is it would bother me to no end on a sports jacket (even a casual one like a tweed). But with a leather jacket it matters a lot less to me, not least because a lot of vintage ones were that short by design (because people would wear gauntlet gloves over the shorter sleeve) so it’s...
