Wound up with a swap today and wound up picking up a nice condition Walther P-1 [nee P-38 with aluminum frame]. Always wanted one, it will look good along the Luger. Looks like this one was made in 1981.
Well, the Cardinals have addressed the short term starting pitching they needed, now if we can add some bullpen arms without gutting the positions we might look like a contender again.
One of the perks of working at a gunstore is having something useful come in unexpectedly. Found a Ramline camo stock for my Savage 270, looks much better than the basic black stock that came with it.
As you mentioned traveling, that is why when traveling I wear a Western style Crusher hat. Stands up to the indignities and abuse of traveling better than my stiff hats. Just wish I could pull off your elegance with that beret!
Well, I had a recto-cranial inversion last week. New guy at the gun store I work at is taking gunsmithing courses through SDI online. I had picked up an Aero AR lower sometime back and when Palmetto ran a nice sale on the rest of it I picked that up. The store owner was cool with seeing if the...
I had Meprolight Tritiums on my carry gun and they were still usable after 17 years. So I will be getting those probably. However the newer one with fiber optics around the tritium vial are pretty nice also.
Before I retired, I carried a Glock23 for 17 years. Butt ugly, but a fantastically reliable and tough gun that stood up to the abuse of working a High Risk Parole Unit. It was scarred up from the job and I hope someday to be able to get it when the department trades them in. But...the other day...
Very nicely done!
Well, a quick report on the Bond Arms .45 Colt derringer. My usual CAS load of 7.5 grains of Unique under a 200 grain RNFP is quite invigorating. Looks like it runs about 800FPS through my usual full size guns, so I guess it is a bit less through the 3" barreled little...
Well, here's a short barreled 45...a .45 Colt/.410 Bond Arms Derringer. Should be ... interesting to shoot as I normally load a 200 grain RNFP under 7.5 grains of Unique for my competition guns. Also picked up some 250 grain JHPs for it too.
I used to use either Norelco or Braun. Both lasted a long time, but their shaves are not up to blades and I had constant irritation under my neck from either. The corded ones will last forever, the chargeable ones for a couple of years.
This past weekend I was at a game convention in Texas. Was part of a bingo game for people to find different folks. Sported my Bowler for folks to locate me and had a lot of compliments [and fun too].
A couple of very nice finds gents. I have grown fond of Derbt blades. Not quite as sharp as the Feathers, but more consistent than the Merkurs. I also check the Dollar Store's blades, the ones made in Israel deliver superb shaves, but avoid the made in USA ones.
Well, St Louis' Pitcher Miles Mikolas went Old School the other day when Ian Happ cut Wilson Contreras got hit and his head cut open on Happ's backswing. He deliberately drilled Happ in the rump 2 pitches later, he got ejected and suspended for 5 games. But I guarantee other batters will be more...
DB, those are great! Makes me remember begging Mom and Dad for one of the Man from UNCLE gun packs when I was a kid.
I love those Chargers, we built one for a young guy in a wheelchair so he could go squirrel hunting with it. Using a rear single point sling as the British SAS guys do on the...
