I was just in the process of updating my "leather jacket data base", questioning the pursuit of finding leather jacket perfection and taking some measurements of the Ridley.
I have to say that Cordovan is just beautiful - I think the sunlight and shadow sections show perfectly how different the...
That thing looks awesome!! Especially the fit is spot on. That’s what I like about those styles. If they fit probably the B6/D1 jackets do not look to bulky.

The belt is detachable? I just found this old thread - that's also a beauty: https://www.thefedoralounge.com/threads/gorgeous-aero-highwayman-in-fqhh-with-shearling-lining-and-detachable-mouton-collar-c-38-42.92723/
Compared to all other recommendations this one looks really short - why would it be any better than lets say a lined Highwayman or a lined Half Belt? In terms of looks I also prefer this jacket. I definitely want my belt-line to be covered, but for me the longer leather jackets always remember...
How comes that Goat is not more popular for other jackets like a Highwayman or cafe racer?
I’m not convinced that a style like a barnstormer would suit me. I think it could look a little conservative...

Summarizing what I have learned so far the options are:
a) B-6 jacket
b) Lighter hide (Vicenza or goat) leather jacket, longer cut (long half-belt, Thunderbay), lined with sheepskin and/or quilt, snap-off collar
...difficult
It seems their is now definite answer. In general I really like the look of a regular shearling jacket. The Thunderbay looks badass! I agree regarding the Corduroy and quilt. For sure warmer than other linings, but most likely not sufficient for real winter days...
Great, thanks! I actually moved to NYC. So at least for the next 2-3 years it also has to satisfy East Coast Winters.
In terms of fit, how bulky does the jacket become with the shearling? Is it still possible to get a decently looking/trim fit?
Thanks for your reply. Your jacket was actually inspiring me to look into the second option. I have a functional down parka, but I was looking for something that satisfies me aesthetically and lets me continue to wear beautiful leather jackets also during the winter. The weight is for sure...
Hi everybody,
I am currently in the process of specifying Aero Jacket #3 with Carrie.
Right now the weather is still beautiful and warm in NYC, but I want to plan ahead for the temperature drop in winter.
My first thought was to go with a B-6 jacket in Seal. I like the trim fit and the thinner...
I lived in Berlin the past 3.5 years. I didn't come across a single store having Schott jackets. The only two options when it comes to better leather jackets are Burg & Schild for Simmons Bilt and Harry Damson for Thedi.
Thanks ElMarro, so you would advise to go for a size 46 then. Denny from Aero recommended a size 44 and a taper towards the bottom. Looking at my chest measurements I would consider myself rather a 44 than a 46. However, I remember it was impossible to wear a 44 Boardracer...
Hey everybody, I do not want to open a new topic for my B-6 question. I am about to order my future winter jacket and do not know for which size I should go. I hope somebody here has a similar collection of jackets as I have plus a B-6 and could advise. I own a 46 Aero Boardracer and a 46 Aero...
Was this only to tease?? :D Even better! What do I have to do to get my Ridley there? Maybe I should first speak to my employer and ask whether its OK if I would swap suit for Leather jacket - that would significantly increase wear time....
