I should have said 6-7/8 + about 1/2 size less than full 7 with a proper measuring device. If you measured at edge it comes out slightly larger. Don't know how he came up with 52 unless he measured at the crown edge of the band.. -

20s - 30s Royal Stetson Mode Edge Zephyr Weight Sz 7 3/8
Stetson used Selv-Edge first in '33. Mode Edge appearing closer to 1940 so Alan seems likely to be correct.- rlk

I haven't found a wholesaler's Borsalino Catalog where they might appear. Retail Catalogs have model names that do not appear on the hats too. -
