We’ll see what Jerri says, but I think that 52 looks like a good starting place. I’ll concur with what Aloysius said about these jackets coming in and finding your body as they soften up during the break in. That’s the biggest and bulkiest that 52 is ever going to be and I’ve found it’s easier...
As far as the server goes, I’ve had a few visits where I’ve just bailed and tried again later. Lizzie, thank you for your colossal efforts on this thread. It’s much appreciated and a big part of my day. Happy New Year gang!
Interested in hearing from the Schott faithful what the consensus is on the leather zipper tab? My older Perfectos look cool without it but I don’t hate it on the new ones. Is there any iconic cool cred to be lost or gained from the tab or is it akin to hacking off the belt?
I don’t think you could slide down to a 44. I had the same thought on a Schott 641hh. Felt kind of between sizes so I tried going down to a 42 and at best it fit like a sausage casing. I think yours will just get better as it breaks in.
Great seeing some innovation in the right direction out of Schott. I particularly like their recent use of the two way Conmar zippers. Wish they would become standard issue on all their motorcycle jackets as it can be a great equalizer if the length is just a tad long for riding.
i kind of...
Becks, what does your chest actually measure? This would be the best info to share when asking for sizing advice.
Also, when shopping used Schott jackets (and others) on EBay, it’s a good idea to get some actual measurements of the particular jacket that you’re interested in. Different eras had...
Pattern wise, the two jackets are identical but off one size. The Schott “One” series jackets (118, 141 etc.) fit the same as a one size larger “Six“ series jacket (618, 641 etc.).
As an example: A 141 in a size 42 is the same as a 641 in a size 44.
Besides Schott’s strange sizing decision...
Hey Beck, I think it would be a good idea to watch the movie “The Loveless”. It’s currently on either Netflix or Prime (can’t remember which). It’s got some good leather jacket action and guys who wear them properly. It’s a real classic.
I think you really nailed the 554! Talk about a perfect fit. As far as the Peacoat goes, it might be a smidge long and loose for my tastes but I don’t know what the current trend is for this style of jacket. A lot of us do the “custom shrink” thing on here in an effort to tweak a jacket to the...
The Schott 141/641 might be a good entry point style-wise. Should be easy to score a good deal on a used one, plus having a jacket that looks a little broken in might also help ease you into the whole experience. Wearing a stiff, squeaky brand new jacket might just add to any self-conscious...
The Schott Perfecto is a bit of a statement jacket. It is elite-level cool and does have a bit of attitude about it. Before you make the big investment, just be honest with yourself and make sure that you’re actually ready to wear one out in public. If you’re unsure, maybe another style that’s a...
I did a pretty light go over with the Pecards and then tried wearing it a bit (mostly around the house as a Perfecto vest is a bit hard to incorporate into the wardrobe now that riding season is over). I waited a few weeks and the leather still seemed kind of dry and lifeless so worked in some...
The 618hh Is a little bit older jacket and the belt was a far cry from what they’re putting out right now…pretty thin and flimsy (and actually a little bit short). The jacket holds some sentimental value to me so I keep replacing stuff that wasn’t so great on it. Already did the collar.
I‘m...
Great find! Maybe someone bought it and then felt they weren’t quite cool enough to pull off wearing a Perfecto so there it hung.
I recently bought a Schott Perfecto vest in the same unworn condition. It had been bought and then folded in half in a drawer for 40 years and was stiffer than...
