^^ I also found a d pocket Hercules in a rural thrift store a couple years ago. Really nice condition, I think I paid $55 for it. Sometimes you get really lucky, but usually it’s run of the mill jackets to be found. There is an article online somewhere about a fellow who thrifted a like new...
Badalassi Premier Highwayman today. This one and my new LL Dominator almost feel redundant as they fit nearly identical and have a similar vibe, but this one is just a different beast altogether. The Badalassi is super thick here, and it’s just finally starting to comply after wearing as much as...
Sounds like you are pretty familiar with the jacket’s pricing history. I offer no further input, haha, other than it is a beautiful jacket. Hopefully the winning bidder gets a good deal and is happy for years to come.
^^ When I was trying to dig up info on these, I do recall seeing it priced much lower during a close out on off sizes or such. I can’t seem to find that now.
I had not seen one before when I came across it at the shop. Definitely seems to be a higher tier for Schott. Everything about the jacket was gorgeous. At first glance from across the room, I thought maybe RMC or similar. Too big for me, and even though I don’t get along with cross zips, I...
Very nice jacket. I know of one that is available locally at a shop near me. Beautiful, beautiful jacket. Same size too, I believe. Not cheap.. I believe the asking price was around $900
It is the standard horse. I grabbed a stock size off the rack since the measurements were spot on with my premier highwayman. I have a brown dominator in Veg sheep and I love it, it’s the most comfortable jacket I’ve ever put on. For the black one, I wanted something a little tougher feeling...
When it comes to the Board Racer, I believe every aspect of the original design was based around riding position on a motorbike. Including neck angle and sleeve curve. Original Buco J100 feels identical around the neck. Both jackets feel right at home when on a sport bike.
Russet is definitely a shade lighter than the tobacco. In the right light, I can see some of the russet color in my tobacco jacket. I don’t own the russet BR anymore to compare the two. The russet did darken with a couple seasons of heavy wear.
Yes, usually that is the case. Depending on the jacket style. I wear a 40 in board racer and premier highwayman, but I wear a 38 in the Sheene/ cafe racer/or half belt. I wear a 36 in the standard highwayman. Aero or thurston’s website provide all measurements, so it’s easy to compare sizes...
Beautiful bike! I did the 95% bike thing before, which only made me realize I wasn’t as much man as I’d hoped! Our Midwest winters can be a little harsh for riding. And yes, wet leaves on the road don’t feel much different than a sheet of ice when on two wheels.
I’ve had luck with graphite lube (used sparingly), or pencil lead to smooth out several different zips including very stubborn soft top zippers on Jeeps. Not sure if it’d work for you, but maybe worth a go before a replacement.
I’ve noticed the neck hang with the Aero board racer jackets, but it eventually eases up a bit, at least for me. I don’t notice it on other Aero patterns as much, except for a PHWM that was at least a size too small. I did own an original Buco J100 from the 60’s and it felt the exact same way...
