The whole collar looks like it's made up of straight lines at the moment, because it's still new and unbroken-in.
To me, that's why there's a gap. The collar's square and your neck is probably round. As it breaks in that will soften and likely disappear.
Wear it and enjoy it.
It looks too long and too narrow to my eyes.
But it doesn't matter what I think, or anyone else. Do you feel comfortable in it? Do you feel better when you wear it? If you have misgivings now, they probably won't go away.

I think of lamb as being thin and weak as it's used in fashion jackets
But weren't the original Indy Raiders jackets lamb, and that was super tough?

I had one myself, although the earlier version with the bright red lining.
Same design though, with the exaggerated quilting. Mine was a 38 too and impossibly snug on my then-38 frame, so unfortunately I had to move it on after some minor repairs and treating the leather.

Seeing a pair of monkey boots takes me right back. I used to wear monkey boots to school every day in the 80s.
Shoes always seemed to fit better and be much more comfortable back then, but I suppose it's just that forty years later my feet are old and wrecked
