That furry fedora looks like something Huggy Bear would wear.
EDIT: I just remembered something I came across on Craigslist.

Wow, ONLY $99!
I don't know if that is against the rules or not (I know we're not supposed to post active eBay...
I bought a few of these and use them in my coat closet.

They're kind of cheap looking, but for closet use they're great because they're space saving, and they support the crown of the hat well without getting it out of shape...
I wore my grey pork pie today with a black casual sport coat, button-down shirt and jeans, and it looked fine (well, at least I think so ;) ). As an aside, personally, I have little use for a brown hat because I prefer black shoes and belts, and have very few articles of brown clothing. I...
There's no right or wrong way to wear them, just wear them. There are some pork pies that are pretty dressy and look out of place with jeans, but the same holds true for fedoras. Generally, though, pork pies look fine either dressed up or dressed down.
That looks really good to me, but I agree that it would be nice to get those kinks out around the telescope. I'm sure someone will be able to give some helpful advice. I just wanted to say that personally, I like the upturn of the brim on yours more than Keaton's usually very flat brim.
That's a great find, Warbaby! I'd consider that a pork pie, just the pinch front variety like Popeye Doyle would wear. Brim up is the way I'd wear it, but it looks great with the brim down too. Brim up just gives it that pork pie "attitude."
Yep, be prepared to hear comments like "Hey Indy!" from the average Joe on the street, no matter how you bash it. Unless you get a black one, then it would be "Hey, Blues Brothers!"
First question: Yep!
Second question: I don't know the specific techniques--I leave that to the experts. Just know that it can be done! It's not a major operation for a good hatter. Optimo, for instance, only charges $20 to replace an old sweatband with a nice new roan leather one.
I like the idea of giving it a little bit of steam and light brushing. Personally, I'd probably take it or send it to a professional for a cleaning, then treat it with Scout hat protector to offer some waterproofing so hopefully it doesn't happen again.
Ooh, I didn't notice that one. I'd go with the Beaver Brand at that price. 85 bucks for a fur felt homburg, that's surprising. I mean, it's probably rabbit fur, but still.;)
If it says Miller Hats on the label, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a Biltmore. I haven't worn mine in the rain yet since I just got my first one the other day. Some people say they take the rain just fine, some say not. I would imagine the stiffer, curled brim of a homburg might be less...
Biltmore?
Biltmore has at least one homburg in 7 3/4. I can testify as to the quality of Biltmore's products.
