Shangas, thanks, I am trying to find some photo evidence for my buddy. Can you help me out with some pics of these in the 20s or 30s?

I Wish The Lounge Had A Chat Channel.. Does Anyone Else??

Okay, let me throw my two cents in here. I am a Moderator at Surplus Rifle Forum, have been for years. We do have a chat room, which is also mMderated. We are known as one of the most friendly places on the firearms net and we work very hard to keep it civil and friendly. However, the chatroom...

    NPR: What Killed Men's Hats?

At 6' 3" I can certainly understand the logic behind that blog. My work hats, except when I am wearing a flat driving cap, go on and off as I am in and out of my car. My SUV has more headroom, but the headrest is an annoyance.

Need help on flat caps and fisherman's hats

The fisherman's hats were around at the turn of the last century, so they would work, the flat caps don't appear anywhere til post WW2 pics.

    A great movie from 1926

Just found this movie and was floored by it. Great clothes, but I cracked up about 5 minutes in, when the attitude about Prohibition shows up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWRoRQHgmvc

Most of the nylon holsters have a softer material inside for that reason.

Need help on flat caps and fisherman's hats

Okay, trying to find some answers for a friend. We are getting into Zoot Shooting, a sport that recreates the Prohibition Era. I have lots of evidence of the newsboy cap during the era, but cannot find out when the flat [driving] cap or the "Greek Fisherman's hat" started becoming popular. As we...

What pens are we carrying today?

Doublegun, I would recommend a Pelikan fountain pen forflying. Mine have traveled well and as piston fillers hold about a quart of ink.

That Charleston is a beautiful pen. The nice thing is that Waterman and Pelikan are both superb quality pens.

    Coffee, grind your own?

arrggh, My Mr Coffee died the other day. Just bought it in February, why, oh why, can't manufacturers build something that will last anymore? I don't mind paying a little extra for quality. Oh well, I grabbed a $15 cheapie and will pitch it when it dies.

What pens are we carrying today?

Instead of working the field today I am in training [tomorrow as well] so I cleaned out and refilled my Pelikans, a 150 and a 215. Nice to carry my pampered pals instead of the "roughnecks".

    fountain pens

+1 to the Pelikan line of pens, they are fantastic. The 150 will be in your price range, but it is not the color you want.

    9mm or 45cal

Ah, the joys of cleaning cosmoline out of old rifles. Brings out my streak of masochism to order a Turk 98 just to make a mess........

Classic ballpoint pens for everyday use

Cross still makes very good BPs. Also, Pelikan produces BPs, and if they are anywhere close to their Fountain Pens in quality they will be superb.
