I thought the same thing at first, because I really wanted to make the "B" version with the a-line skirt...but somehow it would look a little too "schoolgirl" on this old broad. :) A small, understated plaid worked great with this version and definitely pushed it into "office dressy".
Thanks...
Amy Jeanne, I adore that folkwear 249!
I'm at it again...still learning by doing. For my third attempt I chose a 1950's jumper, Simplicity 3673, version A. It's far from perfect, but it's good enough to wear to work.
Inky that is FANTASTIC! I swear, you'd fit right into my old family album. I love it. :)
I have to brag. This is our middle girl, Lauren, at the hands of my favorite pinup photographer, Stacey Barich at Atomic Cheesecake.
Her Daddy went out and got a new shotgun after this...:p
I like my guys a little more craggy, a little less perfect. And this long tall Texan makes my heart flutter.
Yeah, lets make that a little smaller :) -LD
Luckily, my hubby fits the bill. :)
I was gifted my first pair of Springolators by a friend who fit the shoe size but no the actual shoe. I love them! I've long lusted for leopard print Pollys.
Thank you so much MissWink, that was awfully sweet. :)
Maggie...you're absolutely right, I was fortunate enough to work with the funny and stunning GrantFan a few weeks ago. She's a DOLL and oh, that skin! I was honored. And anytime you think you'll be in the DC area, please look me up. I'm...
I tattoo for a living. I absolutely adore my profession and art.
However, it's not for everyone. It's a personal decision. Only you know if it's right for you. Not everyone HAS to have a tattoo.
To the non-tattooed, I'm a heavily tattooed person. To the heavily tattooed, I'm a semi-tattooed...
Adorable Amy Jeanne, just adorable!
The cherry, gingham seersucker sounds like a great fabric. I'm contemplating other combinations (and maybe a smaller size)
ohairas, you're correct, I'm totally hooked. There's a jolly roger denim sundress on my machine at this moment. Not exactly vintage...
All Finished!
This was such a fun project for my second time at a sewing machine and it came out MUCH better than I expected, mostly thanks to all the advice in this thread.
I put this together by pretty much following the instructions to a "T", except for the front opening, where I opted...
Simply adorable, Amy Jeanne. I <3 the fabric and big white collar!
And yes, I'm up at 1:30am, sewing away at the "walkaway dress". This stuff is addicting!
Matt, take your wife out for drinks or dinner or a little music. That alone is enough reason to wear the sharkskin suit. We all need to band together to bring back the tradition of dressing sharp when we go out.
And thank you. The photo is from a series of self portraits based on the colors...
