I just noticed this thread. I shave with a couple of Dovo straight razors, a Vulfix badger brush, and hard soap. I hone the razor on a Black Arkansas and strop it on a Red Russian double sided strop.
My beard is very dense and coarse. And my skin is baby bottom sensitive. I tried every other...
What an interesting thread. I lead a 'double life'. I am a pastor and also a contractor. Obviously one lends itself to wearing suits very well. The other, well not so well. My trousers look a little strange with the custom hammer loops on them. :)
I do tire of the sloppiness tradesmen...
I get never ending grief for my spelling on two counts:
One, I was taught according to Oxford; even though I live in the U.S. Thus, I spell 'favorite' as favourite and 'gray' as grey, and so on.
Second, one of my majors was English. When I goof I catch it! Especially from my father who...
I'd love to be a charter member. I had some pictures taken today to post, but I don't have a hosting site. Any suggestions?
I wear my OR, and now my 'new' OR, almost all day as a work hat, every work day. I even keep a rain cover handy for our Gulf Coast downpours. I love the feel, the...
My favourite cowboy hat is a Stetson 7 5/8 Long Oval in Chocolate. I see long oval cowboy hats fairly often by them. If they do it in cowboy hats why not in dress hats? I turned my OR into a long oval myself :) .
Hey Rev,
You have to watch out for those wire things. They work well for hard hats, but not that great for felt. I know the hard way.
Just curious, are you a pastor?
Just show men the ears of farmers who have worn caps in the field for their whole life. They usually look like a rat has been chewing on them. That'll make hats come back.
Thanks. I revisited the tea kettle with a pint mason jar and got most of the crown opened up. I think that once I clean and brush that the old bash marks will be gone. I'll post some pics later on.
Gents,
I just received my deceased grandfathers Open Road. It is not his OLD one. ( It is languishing in a box in a cousin's house.) It was purchased a few years before he died. It was his work hat and as such it was very dirty and needed a cleaning. He wore it with a fedora crown. I...
Wonderful thread and one that should be shouted loudly into the ears of every male today. I have two jobs. One, a general contractor, the other a pastor. Often when people discover that they will utter a comment along these lines, 'Wow, I'll bet you see two different sides of life.' At times...
One of my favourite sports. I've shot since I was young. My father and I spent hours crafting bows and arrows. I still make bows from Bois d'arc and footed arrows. One elderly gentleman in my home town was a good friend of both Fred Bear and Howard Hill. He could outshoot them both!
