Gents,
I just got a call from a local, telling me that he has some NOS Beaver Brand "Classic" Hats sitting in a warehouse here in town. Apparently in Tan, Brown and Black. Just thought I would let it be known on here and gauge the interest of others before I make the guy an offer on the lot...
I was just thinking I need to make a bird feeder... or not! And all I know about cars that the long one on the right makes it go... truly, that is all!!DD
Boyo,
Thanks for the comments... Although I will say that I think that the pocket problem is actually an optical illusion, due to the fact that the jacket is indeed a 48 and the mannequin is a true size 42, it seems to make the pockets look larger, since the jacket wraps so far around its body...
Gents,
Here is the next iteration of this "new classic" jacket... I am still thinking of calling it the "Hyklas" jacket...
Following the last post, the pattern has been tightened up (Taking into account many suggestions from the "Lounger" community). Front of the jacket now has a much more...
Good to know...I will start throwing away the rest of the hide
From behind the front leg...or ya know NOT! LOL!
This is of course what the tanners and jacket makers want
You to believe, but I am here to tell you that NO one-pieced
Back was ever made from just the front piece of a...
Gents....another misnomer here...ALL Horsehide is FQHH! Front Quarter was a name used in the past in an attempt to make it sound special. All HH's are actually the front 3/4 of the horse, from the rump forward to the neck and some leg. Oft times these are delivered to us as "splits", which are...
Oh yes, neglected to mention the buttons.... well I am of two minds on this one. Two buttons at the bottom are very difficult to "do up" though I agree that the look is "cleaner" and more cohesive. That said though, I know that once the button holes relax with use this may be moot. I will...
Sloan,
MAN! This has really been informative!! I must say that I am thrilled to see all of the feedback. So, that said, the pattern is being re-drafted to take into account some of the things that have been said, but of course, you cannot please all of the people, all of the time, SO not ALL of...
Gents,
Thanks for the comments. I too think the collar could be a little larger, but on this first one, went for a snug fit at the neck and this is the result. I have also discovered that I think that I want to "Blunt" the bottom edge slightly as it comes to too severe of a point. Also, the...
Gents,
Just drafted a new pattern, and made a jacket up... just curious if you guys can give some honest opinions of the finished product.
Thanks in advance,
DD
Took the liberty of making up something similar to the Photoshopped version... NOT A SALES PITCH!! Though I am a vendor, I am also a jacket lover so please do not get confused. DD
This is my version, supposedly by Security Aviation Togs... that I am calling the "Hyklas" jacket.
