well, i'm trying my damndest, and I've just bought my first akubra (cattleman).... you see, I have one of those addictive personalities that my wife seems to love and hate in equal measure.
As an example, I play guitar - nothing serious, just for fun, and some occasional jams with friends down...
hi folks!
One week or so in with my new Akubra Cattleman. I'm halfway between a 62 and a 63, so following lots of advice, bought the 63. On arrival, it slipped down to my ears - majorly big! I felt I could almost turn it around on my head with no friction!
Since then, whilst I've not had...
they are very similar, but I think it all comes down to the "heritage" element on the Banjo - rather like the Fed and the Fed Deluxe (again, essentially the same, but one a lot more money) - the Banjo is in the Heritage range, so has the better quality fur.
I've never felt the two felts side...
that's a nice hat, and the one I nearly went for, but was a bit to pricey for me!
Everything I've read is that the shrinkage will work very well on an akubra - their own advice is to use tissue or paper towel behind the sweat (folded down three times). From what you read, as the hat starts...
Without wishing to hijack this thread - my wife is currently looking to get an Akubra or similar, but in a country or western style (Stockman, Cattleman etc), but is worried on how they would look.
Any pics of ladies in those sort of hats would be welcomed by her!
(and you'll have to...
Thanks Colby - but I never really know what to make of those shop pictures. I find the Akubra website pics very good, but don't see a Jackaroo. Either way, I'd love to see a picture on someone's noggin!
Oh, and re the post below - yeah - I can't really work out price difference, presumably...
wow, my very first akubra arrived yesterday from Everything Australian. wonderful service, only 4 days shipping to UK...
it's a cattleman in fawn and it looks and feels superb! wife so impressed having first been sceptical, she now wants one!
Without wishing to look like twins, she wants...
Thanks all - will pst pic of me noggin, when the cattleman arrives.
Thanks also for uk hat shop suggestion. That also raises another intersesting point. not many uk wearers on here - and I dont see many uk wearers about the uk?
Light light and more light! (an stability!)
Can't really comment on getting results with a point and click, as I shoot SLR (nikon)
For me, I can get some great close up results with my various lenses, assuming subject is well lit and camera is on a tripod.
That said, I also own some extension...
nice!
i'm new here, and toying with fedora purchase for the first time. Im a big tall broad fella though (see new thread above).Mind me asking how tall you are - your hat suits you really well.
Firstly, great forum this - very helpful.
Fear I'm bitten by hat bug. But want some tips on styles for someone my size.
Im 6'4", packing a few pounds, but not fat, more tree trunk stuff (!!) Think front row rugby player, or the big fellas on US football... big squareish, roundish face too...
