I found a heavy, almost woolen overcoat in a thrift store - it's a beautiful piece with epaulets. I'm a 38, and the coat is a 40, and does indeed seem to big. How easy (and how expensive) do you all think it would be to have it taken in. Is it even possible? Thanks for your advice.
OK, try wandering round in a top that says 'Firefighter', and see how happy actual firemen are when they find out that you're doing it 'just for the look'. Likewise, I'm guessing *apropos of nothing*, that wearing cycle gear when you don't have a bike could be a little bit dicey.
This, is why I...
Tangential from a thread on Club Obi Wan about an Indy/Adventure shirt, just curious about the kind of care people give to their safari gear.
I wash my whites and darks separately, of course, but what about those fawn coloured clothes, somewhere in the middle? Don't want them to darken, but...
I've got to admit, chums, I'm surprised that there's not more affection for the ol' cavalry boots on this board! Perhaps it's just me being part of the Star Wars generation...
Do you all enjoy wearing these? Some people really seem to hate them. Also, where should you position the bar? Is it acceptable to have it showing over the top of a buttoned waistcoat?
Thanks in advance for your advice!
What does everyone think about wearing both of these in the same outfit?
It just feels wrong, somehow. But then, the pocketwatch could be seen as decorative, and the wristwatch worn for utility. Opinions welcome!
Absolutely! But I find the modern office 'uniform' (at least in these parts) of baggy, formless beige pants and a blue button down shirt to be a bit off-putting. I was wondering if anyone had any more stylish ideas for those hot summer afternoons!
Traditionally I've always had a wardrobe full of heavy, dark clothing, and I love the autumn and winter. I really suffered through the heat last summer though and vowed never again! The place of work leans toward smart casual so I've got a lot of wiggle room to dress for the summer with a bit of...
Thank you for all the advice! The pens I use are for the most part from the 1950's. I am, however, always taking from the same pot of ink(there must be a proverb in there somewhere). I'll pick up another brand, and before refilling, check the nib is flush to the pen.
What a wonderful forum...:)
I own several of these - the current favourites being my Mont Blanc and my Pelikan. Unfortunately, they always seem to have ink where the finger rests when uncapped. Messy and embarrassing. Is there a way to prevent this?
Also, is it polite to offer a fountain when someone is looking for a...
