It would be a great way to show your love for Mrs. Slim by selling a few at low prices...and if I remember, I think you've got a bunch of 7 3/8 hats!;)
I've got the typical second logo imprinted on most of my hats, although I noticed that in my 1949 Sovereign, rather than a hat shop logo on the opposite side, I have the Chestnut Street address listed...did they do direct sales out of a company store??? Or would the hat just be missing a local...
Graduation Day from Colorado School of Mines
I did find a couple photos of my Mines Senior Stetson. The first is the best I have of the hat from the little instamatic from back in 1987...the hat looks in so much better condition than the last time I saw it surface in one of my military moves...
Back in 1986, the ROTC department managed to use some of the recruiting funds to purchase a bunch of the Stetson's for wear by the ROTC scholarship students and thus attempt to revive the Senior Stetson tradition. I was given this task as one of the Senior ROTC students. The basic process...
1st Wearing
Got the Royal Deluxe Open Road (posted earlier) rebashed enough for the first day of wear...both for me and, I believe, the hat! The cattleman's crease on this one did not prove as stubborn as the one on the Twenty-Five...I'm still working on that one. I still want to smooth out...
2nd Open Road
This is the second of the two Open Roads I obtained this past week. It is a Stetson Twenty Five...although I did have to pay $2 more than that ;) Looks like it spent its entire life in Texas, from what I can tell. I was originally thinking it might have been late 50's from my...
The next thing ya' know...
So, there I was, reading through The Open Road Guild thread...and the next thing ya' know, I've managed two great finds and they both show up on my doorstep on my return from Alaska! No major complaints from the Wife either on having two same-style hats arriving on...
I have no way to know if this was the actual original box...but there is handwriting on the outside of the box that reads "black homburg" on both sides. As there is no other way to identify what is inside the box, I assume it was for identification purposes within the store.
I'm no homburg...
Below are some pics of a recent arrival that my wife actually snatched off OFAS for me--I must be making some great headway if she is now finding and buying hats rather than telling me not to spend money on them! I have included pics of the box in which it arrived (perhaps the original?), the...
If it did start that way, I think I would want to preserve the look. My wife thinks it looks "cute" on me, but the fact is, it is a bit small and not really my style. Been eyeing up an Art Fawcett blocked Panama Bob Montecristi, truth be known... :)
Anyone else with info on whether this...
I recently acquired this old Knox straw that tends to think it's a Homburg! I'm sure it didn't start out life that way...and I'd kind of like to flatten out that brim. Would appreciate any suggestions. I've read some about using an iron and some steam...would that be the route for this older...
Wide???
Hadn't come across a wide oval, before...pretty unique.
Speaking of unique, there is a very nice size 8 Borsalino on Craigslist, for any of you super-melon heads ;)
