I found this Palm Beach jacket and was wondering if it's genuine or later fabric? The first pic looks like a linen fabric but I plead ignorance in these things and was wondering on your opinion.
Nation of Islam, their HQ was in Baltimore so I saw these guys all over the place at street corners selling bean pies and their newspaper. Call them dweeby at your own peril.
not too many would call this guy cool:
For that guy it's not the bowtie that does it, it's the suspenders...
Their organizational decendants are still alive and well today and besides mouthing off they're not much of a threat. My friend and I were staying in a hotel in Catonsville, Md back in '08 when a group from NSM88 stayed there. Imagine having to share your hotel with about 100 neo-nazis! And...
My grandparents were like this on some points... they argued like cats and dogs though. Funny thing is my wife and I are so much like them it's uncanny. At any rate I get demerits on 11 and 12 lol.
I think I hit a homerun on this one, don't know the actual age of the jacket but I'd guess 60's. It's got a 1949 Union Tag in the pocket. Spent $25 and it fits like a glove.

Wait until you get your first vintage tie :) I have 2 now and the fabric is incrediably light and of higher quality than ties now. These days it's all about thick fabric and ties now seem more like a noose than a fashion statement. The 2 vintage ties I own are truly a pleasure to own and wear.
The more I look at the pic above the more convinced I am that he's wearing a celluloid collar. It's too stiff to be cotton or linene. Celluloid is a bit more problematic as the last company making those types folded up a couple years ago. Their remaining stock is getting scarce now.
Having started online with the old FidoNet Usegroups many years ago, I have seen my fair share of the rise and fall of message boards. I concur that this place is wonderful and the people on here are a prime example of what made the golden era so golden.
You can try here as well. I don't know how stiff they are but I'm sure they can be starched into submission. My only quibble is they are made to work with modern shirt buttons not studs but a little bit of stichwork can fix that.
I've had people tell me I've gotten 20 years younger over the past year. For me it's the moustache, I used to sport a french cavalier look (van dyke) but I got rid of it in favour of a Django Reinhart pencil moustache. Now everyone tells me I'm 27 when I'm actually 37. YMMV
Here in Jacksonville it's beyond "transportation for poor people". If you don't own a car you're an absolute nobody. The least headway on any bus here 30 mins and most are in the range of 45-90 mins. It's insane! Well what do you expect when the same beauracracy that runs the highways also...
This one is more along the lines of "The Professional". My hair is getting too long now but next time I get it cut will just be a straight buzz, no time for stylin' in Alaska.
An Hollywood continues to prove to us that they find it impossible to come up with a new idea for a movie. Having previously remade popular films from the past 30 years into banal, boring, CGI filled containers of refuse we now feel the need to start revising the films that were already banal...
