I am in a similar state of mind to Lusty. I don't know anyone else who tries to dress with a vintage look all the time. Its challenging to do everyday in pure vintage so I have to mix in modern and repro pieces just to save the wear-and-tear on the truly vintage pieces.
As for what other...
I think this is my favorite response to dressing vintage, "its a shame more people don't dresss like this anymore". I just think that the care and quality of vintage fashion is so much nicer.
I do get a lot of "oh, she's that vintage girl" comments when someone is trying to identify me. I...
If someone came to my door offering me a free copy of 1937 McCalls, I think I faint from the shock.
As for approaching vintage-y folks, I've only had one occasion when someone commented on my outfit because they "got it" and I've been too nervous to go back and talk to him for fear of looking...
That article from the BBC talked about how it takes SOOOO long to enter someone's number into your digital contacts.... this kind of horrifies me. Culturally, we have time enough to watch endless television, movies, play video games and cruise the internet but the time it takes to key in a...
Thanks, Katinka! Sadly, the H&M cardigan was acquired at a clothing swap. My co-workers have an annual clothing swap. We bring all the unwanted garments and then root around in each other's stashes looking for that gem. Everything that doesn't get snapped up gets donated to a local women's...
They are lovely! The creamy peeptoe is probably the most uncommon, followed by the red. Brown closed-toe heels are much more common since it is likely to have been considered a more wearable, everyday shoe. But I would take them all in a heartbeat if they were my size!
Tenuki and LittleMissToniJo, are you Ravelers too?
I am really wanting to knit some truly vintage patterns but haven't been brave enough yet.
I am Sugaroni on Ravelry.
Have you fellas (and ladies) seen the Girl Scout thread over in the Powder Room?

I happened to work in a comic book store at the time that the Doc Savage film was being released in the US. It was a very limited release in theaters and when it did not perform well it was relegated to direct-to-video. It never received a wide release. (Just a little trivia for you!)
The US Girl Scouts are actually a much more progressive organization than the US Boy Scouts, I think it always has been. I think that's pretty amazing, I just wish some of that life-affirming, self-assuring quality still existed in girl scouting today. I think too much of it has been lost to...
The tubes from Besame are small. I was surprised that the tube was much smaller than a drugstore or department store lipstick but I find it is lasting just as long. I just didn't want you to be disappointed when it arrived and was small in comparison with the price. YKWIM?
I have found some of the best vintage-inspired cardigans thanks to some fabulous Gleeks who run the blog What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear? Her style runs a little more 60s but she wears some fantastic pieces. My most recent embellished cardi came thanks to the site.
It was made by Juicy...
I'm kind of tickled by this thread because I collect old Girl Scout manuals:

I am a fair bottle redhead and tend to turn red lipsticks pink.
I found that I love Besame Red Velvet too. I use it with Clinique Rich Red Liner. For a quick bit of color, I love Clinique's Angel Red. Its a sheer red, no sparkle and perfect for work or a quick touch-up without a mirror. Not...
Jewels! Fabulous vintage jewels! The Cooper-Hewitt is hosting a retrospective of famous pieces from Van Cleef & Arpels. If you are in New York between now and June 5, this is worth seeing I think:

Anyone else seen any fantastic vintage jewelry lately?

My blog has changed themes over the years but I am now focusing more on my vintage interests. Stop by and check it out:
