Hi,
Three pairs of Orvis Khakis, I really like these but I am losing weight and, unfortunately for me, literally the first time I wore them (months after buying the damn things) they were too big. My loss is your gain.
They are all 42x30 and are a mix of poly/cotton (one pair is 100%...
Hi All,
Have a Ex-Ohio State Patrol Campaign hat for sale, Grey, size is 7 3/8ths, no badge or chinstrap. Made by Stratton. One or two very small moth bites, wears great as a classic hiking hat.
This is an older one, judging from the felt and the peak, and it's unlined. I am asking $30...
Yes, they are Navy, sorry to drag an old post, but the "Biltrite" on the heel gives it away. I have two pair of black Army dress shoes with the same heal and just about every older military shoe and boot I have seen (save for combat and jump boots, like steel toed boots) have the Biltrite heel...
Well, thanks for the history lesson; now I know where mine came from. I have a pair that are exactly the same, save for the size being 9.5D and brand spanking new. I also have a pair of JC Penny ones that are even nicer.
Oh, I used to go to the barber up on Main street across from the Historical Society Museum, they set standards so high that when I moved last year I was sorely disappointed.
I fondly remember the hot foam and straight razor to the back of the neck.
So I have unofficially collected Bicentennial ties for a while. And in the spirit of Independence Day I present them to the Lounge in their 100% Polyester glory.
Woah, not so fast there Canadian/Beaver tie. This thread is for American ties!
I have thrifted a few of the shirts, and have one or two in the closest and frankly, they fit like tents. All are XL and not only are the collars HUGE but the rest of the shirt balloons out terribly. They fit more like other brands XXL, sad too as I like the stuff, just not the fit.
This is one of my favorite "fashion" photos from the war. The bashed campaign hat, the M41 and the casual dress is, for me, iconic of America at war.
I just bought a 1944 Campaign hat for $25 at a gun show in my size and I really could be any happier.
My wife has a position with the NPS out of Jewel Cave National Monument in Custer, South Dakota. She gets to do the historic tours, which is located at the original entrance for the cave system next to the Civilian Conservation Corps cabin.
The best part for the lounge is that she wears the...
Here I am screaming in terror at the top of Little Devil's Tower. The hat is a former Stetson Cowboy cut down to fedora, then reblocked and a new brown ribbon slapped on it. Total cost: $50 ($25 for the hatting service).
BTW, the brown may seem an odd choice, but it does not show sweat very...
So I am going to get a Silverbelly cut down Stetson re-blocked and I want a new ribbon; something contrasting. I asked for a Brown and thought the color contrast would be pretty good, thoughts?
SCORE!
So, a few weeks back I bought a beautiful pair of dark blue suit trousers; I would say 1940s. They fit, which is shocking, complete with brace buttons. Really a nice pair.
Guess what? They were orphaned and I made a reunion possible today: I found the jacket. Two button, patch...
Uuuummm, that's not an Ugly tie. I have ugly ties. They are from a period called "the 70s" and they are made of what I think are refugees from grandparent's sofas all over the world.
NO way is that pre WWII. MAYBE 1950s, and that's a big maybe. That's what my Grandpa wore in the 60s and 70s. With no label, we'll never find out either.
