Seeing as how we're talking about leather jacket making and not the manufacture of jet fighters, I think it would be difficult to demonstrate the loss or theft of confidential information and trade secrets, particularly since Aero's jackets were not exactly original creations but rather copies...
Hey Sloan, I would also like to express my gratitude for your detailed reporting and I look forward to reading more of your copy on the subject as it is quite a gripping tale.
I must say, I'm a bit torn -- I was a big fan of the old Aero and then a big fan of the new (old-old) Aero but I was...
Oops, just checked. The synthetic fur collar is selling for $89 at Legendary -- looks like they've gone up quite a bit in recent years. Last time I looked they were like $50. I imagine the sheepskin mouton collars are also much pricier now.
For about a $100 you can get a real sheepskin mouton collar for the 118. I got one as I prefer it a lot more than the synthetic stuff. And you can probably get it for less with the sale going on (although not sure if it's a special order and therefore possibly excluded from the sale).
It really depends on your build and also your personal preference. I'm 5'11 and I find 25" almost too short for me. I have a somewhat long torso and 25.5" or 26" seems to look better on me while still looking like a classic Highwayman (or, as in my last purchase, an Alexander Leathers Roadster)...
Has the film been banned in Japan? I heard there was some criticism about the movie there. If the film is historically accurate, I don't understand what the problem is.
True, but unfortunately unorganized and mismanaged companies do exist, but they nevertheless want to stay in business. It's unfortunate and intolerable that customers have to suffer these indignities, but I would bet that he'll get the refund sooner or later.
I once ordered a jacket from their site and ended up returning it for a full refund with no problem. I've read about a number of members here having bought jackets from them with no problems ... Regardless of the quality of their jackets, they are a real business, so I would guess they will...
I recall reading that Aero used to make Sam Waller jackets for a specific shop in London - perhaps also called Sam walker - but after some time the shop started making their own highwayman/SW jackets without Aero, and of course of lesser quality. I think Aero took legal action to stop them.
I've had a few horsehide Aero jackets and yes, they were all quite different. I currently have three FQHH jackets: a brown FQHH Bootlegger, a Vintage FQHH Highwayman and a Happy Days jacket in what I believe to be either a Vintage Cordovan FQHH or an Oil Pull Cordovan FQHH (if that even exists)...
Fantastic jacket, but I have to say, I never imagined it was actual horsehide -- it looked so much thinner in the film, and the way it was all shredded in the end, I though it was made out of lambskin.
It may be an extremely cool jacket, but these Schott models are made strictly for the "overseas" market and are made by Schott USA's European partners "overseas" -- where exactly I don't know. Not that they are not as good as the standard U.S. Schott models, but even the folks at Schott USA are...
