For a 14-hour drive, I would going to a boot maker that will create a wooden last of your feet. The boots would then be bespoke to your measurements and the last can be used for multiple pairs. The Paul Bond boots are custom handmade but are not built to your feet, so they are produced in...
Saw it yesterday and found it very enjoyable. But I didn't feel like I was watching a Bond movie, just an action/adventure flick with Mr. Craig. They did several things near the end of the movie that I wish they had NOT done.
There was no connection with any of the past movies except for...
I became a member of the California Gunfighters group after the movie came out and picked up some close enough duds to do a fair Wyatt Earp.
WahMaker takes museum pieces and makes reproductions based off the actual
articles of clothing. I wear their Frock coat and several vests. Check them...
Great to see a five-year old post resurrected!
I've been using a Waterman Phileas Medium nib at work these days. Don't like to have the Parker 51's around all those sticky fingered co-workers.
Alcohol would wipe out the oils on your scalp and would be an irritant as well. Prolonged exposure may cause dermatitis and it is very flammable!
It will strip out the proteins in the hair shafts as well.
Not recommended.
Since you said "classic" and not vintage, I'll go with:
YOUNG FRANKENSTIEN
It's a must-see for Halloween.
Mostly comedy, but had some jumpy scenes when I was younger.
I was a Navy Aircrewman and later a Polar Crew Chief on the Huey UH1-N in Antarctica.
We were issued our G-1 jackets in Pensacola FL with instructions for uniform wear during my first duty station at HC-16 Helo Squadron (next to the Blue Angeles hangar).
Since I earned my flight...
My Targa Sheaffers write much smoother than my Montblanc Meisterstück 149 Fountain Pen. Sure, the huge 149 looks impressive but it is not a great writer! I've exchanged the nib four times with Montblanc before I settled on a bold one. I use it for signatures only.
Several Parker 51's in...
I have a window next to the left side of my computer chair and desk.
My recliner is just behind the computer chair centered on the window.
Someone at work was throwing away a high-speed, dual-fan setup from one of the old instrument racks, so
I mounted it on its side into the window to...
Living near the beach means lots of marine layer days, fog, and cooler temps. Allows for lots of coat and hat wear. So if you can move west of Pasendena....;)
I wore my Horsehide A-2 in the shower and pushed up the sleeves to crease them. When I took it off, I left the sleeves bunched up during the drying process. This also took off the shiny look from the whole jacket.
Almost instant break-in!
This was not the first time to shower in a jacket...
Same thing goes for me. I wear chronographs and they are highly visible on a person's wrist as a fashion accessory.
Now that the cell phone novelty has worn off, who pays attention to a phone in a case on your belt? or buried in your pocket?
I have a few dozen FP. My fav is the Parker 51 with a medium nib.

My everyday carry is a blue marble Cross Roadster Rollerball that I fill with brilliant blue fountain pen ink. (it uses the Cross Ion refill- I remove the gel ink and use...

Better Cigar Saver:

I just cut off the ash end and put the cigar into a ziplock bag. Stops the stench and allows you to carry it around with out...
I stopped by The Suit Outlet in Oxnard, CA last week and they had a standing cardboard display of their "Bogie Collection". The manager said that they were discontinuing the line due to the weights of the cloth being too heavy for the general public. ( he was NOT in favor dropping the line-...
Back in the 1984, I walked into a Navy building from the late 40's at the base I was working on. The urinals did not hang on the wall, but sat on the floor. They looked like three-foot high long skinny bath tubs tapered into a funnel shape from the top to bottom and flaring out from the point...
