Richman Brothers didn't manufacturer anything; they were retailers of menswear. They've been out of business for quite some time, I think. The hats sold under their name were probably made by Lee or one of the other large hatmakers who made hats for retail chains. I have a Richman Brothers Open...
As far as vintage hats go, Rilico's listings are honest, well documented, and a heckuva good chuckle to read. I love it when he uncorks his Dick and Jane shtick to sell "Dad's Hat". Nolanf is another regular seller that I've bought a hat from and had a good experience.

What is it with brown hats lately? They used to come a little cheaper than the grays/tans/silver bellies, but I've been trying for a vintage brown lid for a while and the good ones are all through the roof. I finally broke down and ordered a new hat - watch the prices drop now...
Getting back to Nucky's homburg, at the end of episode 5 his hat topples to the floor - sure looks like a Dobbs liner crest/sweatband logo to me. Wide, brown sweat makes me think it's not a new one, either:

Today's hat is a late Byer-Rolnick period Resistol OR clone, silver belly. I think I need to reduce the crown a bit, it's a mite too high even by my standard:

i've seen the 1949 Ladd version, and it's easily the best film treatment to date, but I have to agree with those who feel that this novel is unfilmable.
Open question - ribbon advice needed
I'm considering a Christys Adventurer in their Elm (green) color. The stock 1 1/2" ribbon is a dark green, but I can request other colors - navy, brown, or black. What do you think would look better, the stock green or brown? I don't know the shade of brown...
