Everything Australian has Bluegrass Green Akubra Campdrafts in size 63 (7 7/8) in stock right now. Check the Akubra Campdraft thread for pictures. The Campdraft's a popular hat around here, and the Bluegrass Green is a great color that may or may not suit your wardrobe.
For sale I have a very nice Italian-made boater made by Ponte Rialto Venice. This is a top-quality boater with thick, stiff, heavy woven straw, the way they're supposed to be made. It has a "floating" Bon-Ton-Ivy-type sweatband that makes the hat comfortable to wear and gives it a little leeway...
They may be fine to order from, but I sent them an email a while back just asking a question about shipping charges for hats to the US (which isn't listed on the website), and I never got a reply. Not a good sign.
Considering that I have a Dobbs Soul that appears to be constructed of the same kind of weave, and it's one the most comfortable hats I've ever worn, I'd say go for it. I'd probably have a Ripper if I could ever find one in XXL.
I don't know if I'd recommend that. Wetting the hat, sure, but letting it dry in the sun or a hot car, that's fine if you're trying to shrink the hat. I just set the hat on a hat jack so the sweatband is resting on it and the brim is not resting on any surface, and let the hat air dry at room...
A Campdraft with a fedora crease isn't a western hat, it's just a fedora with a thin ribbon. I doubt Europeans would give it a second glance, much less be offended. If they don't like you because they think you're an American, just tell them you're Canadian, you'll be fine.
I like that hat on you a lot, not as much as the BG Campdraft, but it looks great. Say, you spend so much time standing in front of brick walls, you should get yourself a microphone and become a standup comedian. lol
Very cool! Personally, I'd go a bit taller and a little shallower crease around the telescope, although your head's tilted back so it's hard to really tell how tall it looks on you. I'd say about the same proportions as scottyrock's above would be perfect for that hat.
