And a cautionary note about vintage rayon - it hasn't the same fibre content as contemporary rayon. In addition to the wood pulp, there was a sizing/stiffening agent added in vintage rayon...
perhaps this vendor's been discussed (and dismissed?) in other threads, but www.stacyadams.com has quite a few dapper styles, in the lower $ range. and i recently saw a pair of Cole-Haan herringbone wool and leather cap-toes that made me weep, i think it was on this site.

You might try cleaning them at home. Beware that when rayon is wet, it will feel hard, and will shrink a lot. That shrinkage will recover when the fabric has dried. We use a product called Orvus, which is virtually 100% sodium lauryl sulfate with nothing else - dyes, scents, etc...
