Just curious if anyone knew the oz weight of Aero's chrome tanned FQHH? They mention that their vegetable tanned horsehide is 3oz, but give no weight for the chrome tanned. They way it stands up in the photos many have posted on this board leads me to believe its more along the lines of 4oz?
If you have the same depth of cuts on yours as I have on mine, your best bet is to just give up and enjoy the worn look. Any temporary solution you use will be very temporary given the abuse that workboots go through.
The way I figure it you have two options going forward. Get cheap boots...
Difference between ordering directly from Schott or another online store
For your purposes there is no advantage to ordering a Schott coat from their website. If you lived in the US there would be a large advantage which is that if you encountered a warranty issue, you could send the coat...
nice phot HD :)
I talked to Aero, they said they would do the work for between 100GBP and 150GBP which seems like a fair price to me. So, this summer I will send it back at some point and have them do the work probably.
There has been a few threads on them here as well as a few other forums. From what I gather they arent incredibly well made, but are about the same quality as you could get from a mall jacket, only at twice the price. Im sure one would hold up for a while if you wanted to pay the price for it...
ELC will not do the customizations that I want and I doubt that any sheepskin will be as tough as I want it to be. I have had another B3 with a thicker hide and shorter fleece that tore easier than the Aero samples I have. I like the horsehide overlays I dont have to worry about anything, they...
Well, thats the thing. I dont know if people wearing B3s baby them or only wear them when they dont have a chance of getting damaged or not. The sheepskin feels so soft, flexible, and supple that I just dont know that it could hold up to much...but on my scratch and tear tests it did due...
Just to back up what JJ said, I had the same issue with ELC a few months back. However, I keep hearing that they do great work, so if they respond to your email they might be a good choice. I've heard others say that Aero does repair work, Aero has spectacular customer service and email...
I wanted to overlay the entire thing in horsehide from the beginning, but Aero talked me out of it, now I wished I had not listened to them. So, I figured I would see if they could do it during the time I wont be wearing it.
If the cost is going to be more than a few hundred dollars, I...
Im thinking of having my Aero B3 completely overlayed in horsehide currently it is partially overlayed. I just recently got it, so I wouldnt send it back until this summer or early fall, which gives me some time to think about it. I like the horsehide for the durability and weight. The...
Thanks for all of the input on the sleeves everyone. I'll definitely hold off on anything, and if I do need any work done, it will definitely be going back to Aero.
The last few days its been in the upper 30's and too warm to wear the jacket, but Im sure the weather will get back to normal...
I talked to Amanda at Aero and she thinks it will be ok too, especially if my shoulders get bigger. She also think that the leather sleeves will wrinkle up after a while like had been mentioned before. So we agreed I'd wear it for the season and if its still to long by the summer I'll talk to...
Ive purchased about 20 new and used jackets over the last 15+ years. Only 2 of them are over $300.00 USD (a Schott and an Aero), but most were less than $200.00 and most serve a specific function for work or climate.
I would be careful about buying to much at one time. What if you gain or...
I fall in love with a new jacket every day, the only thing that keeps me from selling all of my possessions to get lots of jackets is that I hate having jackets that are not well worn and if I have too many jackets I cant wear them all in well. I allow myself one new jacket every 1 - 2 years...
Maybe it was a style from a few years past? Im sure they are available on Ebay...just have to pour through the turtleneck sweater search that will undoubtedly turn up hundreds of results.
a lot of the shorter ones are often called military or commando type sweaters. The ones with the high zip up necks have always been referred to as turtle necks AFAIK. I see lots of my friends in them, so I assume they can be had at any trendy mall store. for the shorter collar sweaters...
Normally, I would have thought that too, but my wife was standing right next to me at the time, so Im almost certain that she really was only interested in the jacket!
