Very interesting. I don't ever remember seeing a Hat Corp Of America product with a blind stamp for a retailer. I do know that the extra large Cavanagh Edge round stamp makes the hat fairly early. Probably mid-30's. -

Yes, because its an inferior product. If you block and pounce a Winchester body and then a Fepsa body for the exact same time in the exact same way, the Fepsa body will be nicer WITHOUT extra and unnecessary work. Yes, you can absolutely over pounce anything....vintage or modern....and still... -

Akubra more than likely does not pounce further than 400 grit. I would take a 220 to the rough areas (going in a counterclockwise one way motion) and then finish with a 400 grit in the same manner. This should take care of the uneven roughness. Do not press too hard, but rather let the sandpaper... -
