Blink is both a good and bad episode to show to new viewers... good, because it'll probably rope them in... bad, because it's not a typical Doctor Who story. Heck, having said that, showing anyone something from the first three new seasons is kind of weird if they ever get an interest to go back...

Well, we'll see how it goes. Most historical movies do this; it's not a new phenomenon. I think I could count on one hand the movies out there that are truly "historically accurate".
I think everyone's coming at this from wildly different angles and, in that, it's hard to reconcile one comment with the next.

The word on the street is that they've done a good job with this film. Sure, there'll always be a pocket of people who want to like the original because it's the original and will never give this film a go - and that's fine. I don't believe the budget was particularly high (despite the casting)...

All told, I've been pretty happy with the first three seasons of the new series. While I think RTD brings a lot to the show in the form of passion, an overall guiding hand and even the odd good script, however, I really wish he'd let more people have a go and hadn't tried to stamp himself across...
Ah, excellent. Some interesting opinions there but, hopefully with the movie closer to release we'll get more people talking about it than that previous thread :)
