I got some vintage buckles off ebay. I had some veg tanned horsehide sitting at home. So I blended the two together and came up with these. Please let me know how I did? It is my first ever time doing this, and I need practice. I was trying emulating the Sugar Cane Buzz Rickson natural belts...
Update... I just removed the whole thing as I saw the edges, especially at letters, was already lifting away slightly. I am going to just paint something else in place like an 8th patch instead. I think that design looks cooler anyway :-)
Hi All,
I got a goat A-2 off ebay last month. It has a left shoulder AAF decal that looks too new, almost too gimicky due to how fresh it looks. In a way I wouldn't mind removing it entirely, but before I do, I'd like to see what it would look like worn.
Has anyone got tips on making these...
Can you please tell the technique? Is it a case of just applying dye nearest the fabric, and it migrates into the leather or something else? I am sure a lot of us would like to know :-) thanks!
From the looks of it, the guy is done. Legal advice? By whom, Lenny "The Screw" Esquire?? Face it, the guy scrammed with a lot of cash that wasnt worth hiding with. What is he going to do once its dried up and he needs money again?
Hi,
After seeing so many of the vintage A2 jackets linings, I see many have collar snaps on the lining side, covered in the same material as the lining. How is this done? Are manufacturers gluing material over the snap head before installing them, or is lining put over them and somehow snugged...
Thanks Edward and jk! I want to see if some knowledgeable jacket gurus see it and give some guesses of the brand it may be. I wore it all day and except for midday warmth, its been a cracker of repelling the cold gusts we have been having here in southeast PA. I left it for a while in my car...
Thanks! LOL,
Actually the collar is soft. I had it up for the pictures. He restictched whole collar everywhere so its soft yet stands up firmly too. I dont know if I need any treatments besides wearing it a lot. So far it is wearing nicely. The new liner makes it feel like a new jacket really :)
Has anyone a thought of whom may be maker of the jacket? I have two I can think it being; Fidelity or Californian. Does anyone think I may be right or were there too many leather houses making these in this style to tell differences?
