Two questions....Could be setting myself up for a letdown!!!??HAHA

Funny you would take such a strong stance on lining Panamas when the finest I have seen, made by the world aclaimed, are lined with a fine mesh to protect the crown from sweat. This isn't a case of Panama Bob against the world of hatters is it? I'm am glad to hear you are enjoying his...

    Mercury

A new comer to the forum and home sick I have had time to read through the older threads. One thread mentions mercury. I speak with some expertise. I work in the environmental field doing assessments of historic hazardous waste disposal sites. One of my charges are the Danbury and...

    Aussie Outback Hat?

Billy Martin in NYC (Madison high 60s, next to JM Weston) may have some of Rands Hats. This will give you an idea of his work. The 100 beaver is the real deal. Ritch has a great catalog. Call his shop at 800 346-9815 to get one. He does a Snowy River that is an Aussie style. I have that...

    Aussie Outback Hat?

Milton Johnson does a couple of nice hat styles in this style. A fino will cost about 500 to 1,000 dollars. No need to do above 750. His company, Montecristi Custom Hats in Santa Fe (see his web page) will make you any style stlye you want. He has been in the bussiness almost 30 years...

Can anybody help me, please? With Panama hat

Hey Panama dude: You don't get to pick and choose what is on the forum. This is an open discussion. We still practice free speak up here in the States. If it were restricted to political correctness, as you define it, the forum would not be a very good source for information. Sorry to...

Two questions....Could be setting myself up for a letdown!!!??HAHA

I am wondering what the benifit is to purchasing an unblocked straw hat body and search for a hatter to block it. Panama Bob has agreed(I think) that there are only a handful of master blockers of Panamas Hats in the world. Two of whom are in the USA and sell fine finished Panama Hats. My...

Can anybody help me, please? With Panama hat

Panama Bob: How many people are buying those 25,000 dollar or even the 2,000 dollar hat, or even the 1,000 hat? I bet few. If they want to, that is their bussiness. There is always someone wanting to waste their money and why should they not be able to. Most of those over priced hats...

    New Optimo Tobacco

I have had Hats shipped from the West Coast to the East Coast. FedEx charges extra because of the over-sized box. USPS Priority with insurence was actually about 20.00. I was charged $35.00. The box was a shipping box not a nice round hat box. Optimo Hats therefore seems very reasonbale.

    New Optimo Tobacco

I have found that the hatters I have ecountered have a hot botton concerning hat boxs. They charge about $10 to $15 above shipping to cover a sturdy card board shipping hat box. I notice in your pictures Matt that your new hat (I presume) was shipped with a traditional hat box, which I presume...

Perhaps the two guys living in ecuador can sell their hats cheaper because their overhead is that much less. There are different markets for different folks. Live and let live.

Western Hat Styles vs the Fedora

I have both felts and straws. I am expecting a straw southwestern from Milton Johnson, owner of Montecristihats.com next week. The weave is decribed to me as 8/9z, having three open weave diamond on each side. The style is the Tecate. It is not fino. Wondering of the quality of a 8/9z...
