Motivation Attack
This thread got me all motivated to rummage through old photos. I think we had as many different uniforms as some of ya'll here have suits.

The "Hat"
"Hats" as Drill Instructors were/are informally known among themselves received their official uniform cover in true Marine Corps fashion: by order & all at the same moment.
"On Saturday, July 21, 1956, at 7:30 a.m. all 603 drill instructors of the recruit training command obtained...

Tie Bar / tack alternative
An alternative way to keep your tie in place w/o bars/tacks:

Wingtip Polish
I've found success shining wingtips using a brush & kiwi to put on an all-over brush shine. The brushing seems to limit the excess buildup. After that a quick shine w/ slightly damp cloth & a touch of polish in a spit-shine style on the smooth parts.
This isn't from any expert...
Hello to all
Hello everyone:
After watching from the wings here for quite some time I've come to appreciate your expertise as a group on the clothing topics presented here. This is not so much due to any vintage dress inclination on my part, but rather a growing appreciation that the golden...
Buttons on DJ cuffs
Would any of the folks here comment on buttons for dinner jacket sleeves?
I've found myself w/ a new (never tailored) Dinner Jacket & the sleeve buttons were supplied in a small pouch in the pocket. I know that normal suits can have - as a somewhat higher-end option -...
