Out of interest I thought I will post some representations of blazers in the real world.
The first two pictures are school blazers.
Note the patch pockets. The left breast pocket usually features the school insignia. The right breast of the jacket which sometimes features a patch pocket...
He had budget constraints. So I think the Banana Republic is the closest thing he can get for the price. Im in Australia so I cant really recommend anything else aside from ebay/thrift finds.
The style you mentioned is not really english as the English prefer the double breasted model.
Pakeman offer a double vented model.

No I believe that there are such jackets.
They function the same as a one buton jacket, and the top button (the 2nd button) is pressed into the lapel
I have seen it before. However the examples I have seen have been unbuttoned, but I can imagine it would like like a one button suit jacket.
The new suit is much better. Not sure why you persist with those billard ball sized knots. But it looks less dramatic with the new shirt collar and you look better than 95% of the male population dressed in a suit.
Personally I have enough of windsor collars and thick knots. I say it would have worked during when the size of knots were smaller. But ties these days are too thick in fabric and width. I know that most shirts these days seem to be a medium spread or cutaway, but don't feel tempted to do it...
With pattern matching there are so many aspects to take into consideration. There is scale, as well as shapes and patterns (stripes versus checks, etc) and colors to think about. There is also a consideration of fabric weight and finish.
This is obviously hard to pull off when you have to take...
I think you will notice a huge difference if you were with a plain coloured pocket square. I wear a very similar outfit to you, except with the a plain white linen square. I also wear the opposite with polkadot square and solid tie.
Please post photos of the new outfit
Nothing costumey about those suits. They look at home in the late 20s early 30s as they do now.
Its all about fit and proportion and lastly style. You have mastered the timeless style, just in what you were wearing.
I dont think this is overpriced for what it is. Its certainly better than most of the stuff in the department stores and boutiques around the country.
Most of that stuff, doesn't have the fit or the character that make vintage suits so great.
I think if it was handmade I would have no problems with it. But then that might be a little bit showy. Someone made the comparison to working cuffs.
With machine made I prefer a straight tacked buttonhole on the lapel. I think the major problem with this is the fact it is on the lapel on...
Nice suit. I would change the tie however...and shirt.
Although nice pieces on their own. The shirt is quite good. Just not sure about the curling of the collar.
