Ok let's see if this works:
Not a good picture with an even worse camera..
It is not a montecristi, it is a simple cuenca, in the shape Cuencano. And it is a 'fine weave', what exactly that constitutes I don't really know. All I know is that it looks how I had described it to him wanting it...
I will post later, pictures of my first panama hat(s) from PB himself. Totally worth the wait! I already have another order lined up, but will have to leave some breathing room for the misses to accept it haha, perhaps next summer.
I already thanked him privately, but I'd like to express my...
Could someone please tell me in clear language, how with every day items, I can clean the 'sweat rim' that appears on felt hats around where the sweatband sits due to a little too much sweating? It is quite visible and want it out...
Thank you!
Hey,
Small suggestion, when on ipad, you can bookmark this and any other website to appear as an icon on the homescreen. So far some websites have a custom icon that appears and looks like an app on the home screen. This forum does not have that but i would love the fedoralounge logo as an...
I think I gave it its last bas for a while now. I raised the back with nearly 2cm, and now it looks pretty much right to me. I didn't like the very low backside, so raised it. I tried the above crease, but how the hat sits on my head, my head always pushes the crease out of place and the hat...
Excuse me sir, that looks great!
DJH: Could I ask you if it would be possible to show a side shot of the brim? You see, I am also interested in an upward swoop on one side, it is easy to do with the CD. But I'm not sure what each side should look like to achive that effect. Could you give a...
I am no expert, but I think that bump is quite standard in that position. I have several hats that are stamped in the above shape and they show this as well. Perhaps some strange steaming techniques could solve this if it bothers you indeed. I always assumed it was natural to be that way
The crown definitely looks much higher than on that picture, that is a little bit too low for my taste.
One question I have for you though, is how you get it to take ANY other shape than a teardrop? I have shaped and reshaped the hat several times, and no matter what, it seems to always fall...
O, brought the brim up 1 CM, it looks massive (to me) now, but I decided I like it much better this way :-) I swooped the brim a little as I would like to avoid the Indy downward swoop thingy (the hat is brown and all that...). I'm totally loving this one, am curious what the misses will say...
Hey guys, the bow is indeed on the left, it is the mirror effect, although I did not know that was gender specific!
The teardrop is a little less deep now, but when I put it in the shape some of you guys have it, the hat looks HUGE on me lol. You guys must have ginormous heads!!! :-)
I love...
it still looks huge, but I am indeed rebashing him a little to be a tad higher. It still looks more than high enough, but then it looks a little less fedora like and more cowboy like, I'd like to avoid that (if that makes sense to you, congratulations for understanding me on this one) :-)
Let' see if this works
It is very bad quality, don't have a camera ready besides the one here on the laptop.
What do you think of the 'bash'? I've never done it before.
My mid-brown campdraft has arrived, and I (tried to) put a teardrop on it. Amazing looking hat, just loevely. Brim is a little wider than expected, but still excellent. The material feels nice ,and was very easy to form into the required shape. It arrived lightning fast from EA.
Small funny...
The way to make them not only tolerate it but like it, is to include an occasional hat for 'her' once in a while :-) But then again, I have a max of 5 hats at all time, so nothing like some of the guys around here :-)
Ah yes indeed, but, as a smart gentleman, I ordered the hats to arrive when the lady of the house is abroad :-) I'm sure some of you can understand where I'm coming from :P
Question: I am expecting several 'UPS packages' this week, how can I avoid checking the mail every two seconds and as such avoid being as productive as a boat on land for the rest of the week? :-(
The thing about leather hats, in my opinion, is that they don't look good on pictures, you should check them out in real life. I have the above one and it looks 10 times better in reality.
Sorry for digging up a slightly older thread, but I can highly recommend the Barmah leather hats. My sson to be wife has a 'suede finish' one which looks truly nice on her, and I have a Cooper. W take them everywhere on vacation.. They are so easy, and I think pretty much indestructible. I oil...
