Niiiiiice...
That is one sweet suit, and it looks great on you. It looks like the fit is just right. I agree with the others, the dry cleaners should be no problem, wool is a truly amazing fabric. As far as the buttons, check with the local tailors, they may be able to find a matching...
It is possible to have the lapels on a jacket narrowed or restyled (unfortunately it's not possible to go the other way and make them wider... :p ) It's not a common alteration, but it can be done. A lot of people got suits from the 70's restyled in the early eighties. I have no idea how...
yep...from the sellers description, it sounds like they were originally a 32 or 34, so you should be able to put them right back where they belong :) I look forward to seeing it restored to it's former glory!
That looks like it was, at one time, a very nice suit...and I'm sure you will make it one again. :) But whoever let those trousers out at the waist did a really bad job of it, hopefully you'll be able to remove all of that. I do love the material...I wish I could find more fabrics like that!
ROFL You would really be green if I told you what I paid for it....something like 12 bucks on ebay...
Economics of shaving ... cheapest disposable razor you can buy, about $1.25 each, good for maybe one shave before you have to toss it (not really good for even one, but you know what I...
I forgot to mention...I will tell someone how much materials cost that go into something, that doesn't matter to me. I will also tell them how many hours of work go into it...and they can do the math themselves. If they think my hourly rate is too high, I've even been known to suggest a...
At last! Someone said it!
I am in total agreement with jp. I don't know how many times I've had someone come to me and ask how much it would be for me to make a suit/coat/shirt ...and then when I quote them a price, the inevitable next question is "What if I get the fabric for you?" They ...
I use a Gillette Tuckaway in a fitted, art deco, silver case...with NOS Wilkinson blades...I have, well, maybe not a lifetime supply, but it should be a few years before I have to find more. :p
Sorry for the bad pics....shiny things are not so easy to photograph. lol
I know what you mean. What about the old trick of pressing your trousers under the mattress (only works with a *hard* mattress... lol ) or the trick of sharpening used razor blades on the inside of a drinking glass, that's an old one from the depression, used it once or twice myself.
You might be right. :p I'm east of I-77, but not very far east. I do like the peace and quiet of the countryside....although you do get more looks out here if you happen to wear a suit. LOL
Someday I'll get the hang of this...
Sorry about the double pic above...I'll get the hang of this sooner or later...
Some details, for the curious. The shirt is linen, pull-over or tunic style, neckband (could be fitted for detachable collars) and the trousers were just an experiment with...
Oooops...
Let's have another go at those pics...sorry...lol
And the fishtail back, once again...
So what do you guys think, now that you can see the pics? :p
Hello. This is my first post to the lounge, though I've been lurking here for a few days. I've always had an interest in vintage styles, but I never knew vintage clothing was so available (and cheap!!!) For anyone who would like to comment, how about opinions on this outfit (if the pics...
