    WANTED: 1950's Western/Cowboy Hat

Thanks for the links but I don't think you read my post above as that is not remotely the style of hat that I'm looking for. I appreciate any help though!

    WANTED: 1950's Western/Cowboy Hat

Hi everyone, I'm desperately searching for a mid-'50s style cowboy hat like Glenn Ford or Audie Murphy would have worn, with a shorter crown and a slight upward curved brim. I'm a size 7-1/8. I really need to find something in time for Halloween (!!) and while I would not normally wear a...

    How to make a ribbon

I'm circling the hat, however I would like to have a wide ribbon and done up layered rather than a single sleek piece of fabric wrapped around. I'm not sure if that illustrates my intents well. It's not a felt dress hat, but a straw weekender/leisure hat. I'm sure you've seen examples of straws...

    Wanted: Stetson Straw ~ 60s' Mid-Century Short-Brimmed Trilby Hat, Size 7

Hi Jlee, Not quite the right shape I'm afraid. I'm looking for more of a streamlined early-sixties porkpie silhouette with stingy brim, evocative of that sharp East Coast mid-century exec meets West Coast ivy jazzer look. See Bill Holden below for the archetype:

    How to make a ribbon

How much fabric needed for a large ribbon? I'm looking to source some vintage fabric to replace a hat ribbon on a straw Dobbs. I have 1 yard length of bleeding Indian madras from the '50s to use; would that suffice considering the material is so thin? Thanks!

    Wanted: Stetson Straw ~ 60s' Mid-Century Short-Brimmed Trilby Hat, Size 7

There is a Stetsonian in a size 7 (not noted in description) and fairly decent looking condition currently listed on the Bay, however it's a beaver felt and not straw: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-STETSON-MENS-HAT-THE-STETSONIAN-JOHN-B-3X-BEAVER-CRAFTED-EDGE-BROWN-/190623235413 I imagine...

    Wanted: Stetson Straw ~ 60s' Mid-Century Short-Brimmed Trilby Hat, Size 7

Hi Carl, That is a lovely hat indeed, although I would say that the colors and ribbon are more of an updated contemporary look. It's a very nice shape, however I'm really after the real deal if I can find it! How rare are these to turn up? I would kill for that Coronado, Saratoga, or...

    Wanted: Stetson Straw ~ 60s' Mid-Century Short-Brimmed Trilby Hat, Size 7

Hello gentlemen, Consider this my introductory post, as I've found my way to this corner of the web on the desperate hunt for a deadstock '60s Stetson straw; one of those dead cool summer/weekender trilbys like the Acapulco, Coronado, Merion, Saratoga, Tritone, Americana, Sabena, Continental...
