I do believe it is the Baileys one. I went back and watched the movie again and the hat band even has the buttons on the bow area like the baileys hat. I believe it's one they call "Gangster".
That's enough to turn me off right there. Also doesn't look as good on the web site pictures as it does...
Apologies if it's been asked before. I'm trying to identify the Fedora that Sudeikis wore in the movie "race" about jesse owens. I think it's a Stetson, but as to style I'm a little lost:
I'm quite taken with it and would like to get one for myself.
Anyone able to give me any info on it?
I've only got the one and I only bought it last week. Singer 319W:
Dropped a hundred for it. I was attracted to it's 1950's "industrial" look. The serial number says it's a 1957.
I was on a business trip, so I had to break it down to fly it home in my luggage. Believe it or...
Well, I got greedy.
I needed to tweak it a bit more and gave it another round of heating and shrinking.
It was on my head and near perfect, had cooled and felt nice and dry so I took it off and went to bed.
Woke up this morning and the sweatband had turned into a well cooked piece of...
So the Akubra showed up today.
Either the seller or that "pitney bowes" business dis a rotten job packaging it. The crown was crushed down about 2".
Luckily, it's an Akubra so it takes abuse in stride.
But it turns out it actually is a 63, not a 53 as on the tag. No idea how it happened...
LOL.
You would be surprised how many people say I look like someone else.
I even had had someone once say I looked like kurt russel in profile. I didn't see it.
Personally, I just think I look like me.
:)
Took the dog for a walk and grabbed my Biltmore Western that I'm converting to a more classic fedora:
Crown looks a bit high....might look better with a wider ribbon.
Thats an interesting idea. I may borrow it. So I understand: the brinm I'd own and the hoses form the brim up right? The crown isn't down and through a hole is it? A pic if available would be a big help...
I was planning to head out to the wood shop an make a form to do the job. I might still...
Ah, the voyage continues.
I started working then brim and it's not really going where I want.
A quick Google reveals the brim needs to be "flanged" to go the way I want. For this I need a specific form to shape it to.
i'll have to think about this one for a while,,,,,,
The deed is done:
Came out pretty good.
The edge looks rougher in the pictures than it does in real life for some reason.
I scribed a 2 1/2" line around the brim, then put the blade through to the wood. Then, I spun the hat around the blade and it cut clean and smooth.
I'll touch it up...
And for that I'd sell it for sure.
:)
But, that being said, it's coming down from a 3 1/2 brim to a 2 1/2 any moment now.....might go 3 first just to be sure.
The knife hangs over it like the sword of Damocles....
I'm no expert, but "spray painting" sure doesn't sound like a good solution.
you might get away with a spray on fabric dye. I've seen it used on items like vehicle carpets and whatnot.
Best be prepared to toss the hat away if going that way though.....you may very well end up with a...
